Well, I got my Kaywoodie Sterling poker from eBay today. It's gorgeous. Can't wait to try it. The only drawback - seems like the previous owner was a Lakeland fan, so I see a lot of Carter Hall in my future...

That's a damn fine pipe. Would you not give a salt alcohol treatment to exorcise that ghost?

That old lady perfume Lakeland smell is hard to exorcise. You will need several salt and alcohol treatments Good luck!!!!

Lakeland ghost a drawback? More like Lakeland enhanced, ready to load with something like Glengarry Flake, or Ennerdale Flake!

Thatโs still a beauty and wish you many happy and healthy years of smoking pleasure......CONGRATULATIONS ๐๐๐๐๐๐ If it were me, Iโd run some rum and a dozen pipe cleaners to help alleviate the pungent aroma of any Lakeland blend. Also soak some rum in a piece of rolled paper towel and let sit in the chamber!!! Iโd only smoke a Lakeland tobacco in a Cob ๐

Question... Do you like lakeland tobaccos? If so could you dedicate this pipe to that?

Still wouldn't hurt to try a salt and alcohol or coffee grounds to start breaking the ghost.

I find a session with a pipe retort is equivalent to several rounds of salt and alcohol.
I've never had to exorcise Lakeland essence, but the pipe retort wipes out a Captain Black ghost in record time.

If you've met the ghost of Captain Black once, finding that odor wafting out of a fresh eBay purchase will shiver your timbers, if you catch my drift.

I filled it up with some Half & Half. I don't have a retort, and I don't want to bake the thing with salt and alcohol. I'm gonna be bull-headed and smoke the ghost out of it.

Does it smoke well? YES! Does the Half & Half taste like Land O' Lakes? Somewhat. Not nearly as bad as I thought. A few more bowls of codger, and it should be all better.

A very sensible decision. A poker being one of my favorite shapes plus it being a Kaywoodiemakes your pipe a stellar choice in my considered opinion. I hope it brings you many years of pleasure and happiness. AJ
