I second a lot of the ones here but one odd one that I don't see mentioned yet is hot metal. That smell you get working with a grinder. I love that.

The walk-in humidor at a B&M. I could wander around in circles for hours just soaking in the aroma of fine tobaccos. True this ^ I used to live near a JR Cigar warehouse store. Man was that awesome. The feeling of the humidity and the aroma of all things tobacco.

Forgot about fresh baked bread, wife and I were at my fishing camp in Cypremort Point , dead cypress for you guys, went to Jeanerette and waited on Lejuenes Bakery to turn outside light on signifying bread was done and ready to sell. We bought 5 big loaves, smell was heaven, got to the Intercoastal and bridge was open for boats, and damn while we were waiting we ate 3 loaves.!

Some of the happiest times of my childhood are recalled by these smells:
Emeraude perfume. The only perfume my grandmother would wear. Bacon frying and fresh coffee at breakfast. Fresh cut hay in a mountain pasture. Someone smoking Half & Half Tobacco. My Dad’s aftershave.

I have too many to even try to list. And they change depending on the time of year too. Though some of my most favorite are coming up with October, November and December being my favorite time of the year. The sights, sounds and of course, the smells.

Having ridden my bicycle over a hill in Kilgore when I was 7 years old, and discovering that the downhill side was freshly oiled. It sanded about 80% of the skin off of my right side. The smell still gives me nightmares.

Many of the ones mentioned...no point in reiterating them...maybe the most unusual...my puppy's smell. She smells sweet, clean and full of love.

I agree, both creamy and tasty to the palate. I’ve baked many cheese pies with Camembert or Brie.....delicious!! Now let’s talk Limburger cheese.....I can’t be in the same room with this awful stinky “ feet “ smelly cheese!! My ex father in law ( great person, may he Rest In Peace ) often ate this cheese on Sunday mornings. If I’d stop by for a cup of coffee to visit he would try and hide the cheese from me, but I always knew when he enjoyed his “ favorite “ cheese!!! We would go sit outside and talk, yup it was that bad....lol. I use too also tease him and ask “ do you enjoy sucking on old smelly socks “ Made him laugh 👌👍👍

Likes: 1) Smell of my Grandfather's house. He smoked pipes and cigars for decades. There was always a sweet smell of tobacco infused into his walls 2) Petrol and Airplane Glue. Not to get high. I get a headache, but boy I never got over my childlike love of it 3) Xuan's Curry Chicken Dislikes: 1) Autopsies 2) G&H Bob's Chocolate Vietnamese Pig-Tailed Macaque Poo 3) Walking by my twin brother's room when he took his shoes off 4) Maybe Darin recognizes this. Phospho Molybdenum

David,
I used to work as a mortician. I actually started to like the smell of embalming fluid! I know autopsies aren't embalmed yet. I had to embalm those, too - I never thought much about the way they smell. Not sure why. I think it was just the chemicals they added - the fragrant ones- to make the deceased smell better, though.
My favourite smells are a good, aged, pressed tobacco cake. Very young infants - Don't ask my why ! They smell heavenly! Also the smell of the deep forest after a rain - this has to be my number one smell. That forest musk after a good rain - is a godsend!

My advice - Never puncture an intestine when a big person died with gas Formalin is not bad smelling. They put it in Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill

The much-maligned odor fades as the cheese ages and becomes more creamy.

When I was a kid we lived next to an old, Cuban lady. She'd go into her backyard, make a small campfire and she'd roast coffee beans in a cast-iron pot, stirring them constantly so they wouldn't burn. The aroma of roasting coffee....love it....especially wafting in the crisp Autumn air.
Pipe tobacco (from someone else's pipe).... "Canoe" men's cologne-(very popular in the 60's)...Hoppe's No.9 (gun oil)...Sunday gravy and frying meatballs (it's an Italian thing)....fresh sawdust from pine boards....turpentine....real Bee's Wax....baking bread, and aroma of a wood fire....bus exhaust....airplane glue....cloves....a ripe peach...slightly burnt toast.
There's more, but... that's a bore.
