I want to say a few words about "Briar Spirit" pipes.
I recently acquired a fine example of his work in a trade for tobacco. I was curious about the story and why he was not one of the better-known pipe-makers.
I looked him up on another forum, and it is a sad story... brought tears to my eyes.
So, this pipe has become a highly valued member of my "briar family."
Thank you, Walt.

Kirk did his best, his work wasn't perfect and neither was he...but he tried. I treasure all his works.

Give me some insight on the guy, I’ll add the name to my look for list... "Kirk Fitzgerald." UK. Walt knows more about him than I do.

I believe Kirk has been “ AOL “ for quite some time. I remember Walt was trying to get in touch with Kirk for some time. I’m sure Walt will read this thread and have more information
PS Everyone from other forums spoke highly of Kirk👍👍👍

I knew him personally, Kirk was a troubled soul battling his own demons. Our friendship ended in a absurd argument and then he was gone, I suspect he's still battling depression and other ails as well.

Ben, I don't think you will ever get the chance to own any of Kirk's pipes. He made them for his friends and not for sale. Peterd, I believe, has some, I have 14 of them and I think I had the most. I'll be honest with you, if you get the money together, buy a pipe from Ron (RonD Pipes). His work is incredible and you will never be happier than to have one of his creations. Pride in workmanship is Ron's middle name. I would put him on the level of Michael Parks of Canada. I don't own any of Ron's pipes because a) I can't afford them b)I can't afford to buy any more pipes. I traded Kirk tobacco for pipes (I probably shouldn't say that) but it is what it is.

PS...I have no connection to Ron, other than knowing him through various forums and seeing his creations...they are incredible, to me.

I agree....and if I sound over enthusiastic about your work...it is NOT over-enthusiasm...simple truth.

I knew Kirk when he was making pipes and own two of his creations. Both are treasured.

… yes, I knew Kirk and helped him set-up his first forum...while he did offer to send me some of his pipes I declined...his Mental Health issues were troubling and his resistance to make better personal choices ended my help...

" his resistance to make better personal choices "
This, too was an issue I had with him. The key to the whole problem was "his" not anyone eases including his wife. As you said earlier...it was sad. ...and I guess this is a good point to end this thread.
