My new 8" mini wood lathe I have been try to learn to use. A couple of things I have made. Small plates to rub out flake on. And some Tampers.

A good start John, I liked lathes from my school days mainly metal lathes & stuff in those days , the Victorian great Engineers & scientists were my heroes, but I got a little wood lathe like yours, meaning to make wooden pens & stuff, many years ago, but now I have discovered the piping hobby , I feel encouraged to start on making tampers, but I am just an amateur beginner. Early days yet....
