In Ireland, chances of getting outside much (at least in the sunshine) is slim, because there is little sun here. When it's good we go outside. When the weather is bad, we also go 'out' but to indoor play areas, swimming pools etc. However, what I've found with my girls is that we can bond, solve puzzles, be creative, role-play within the games we play. We play Minecraft a lot. We mine together, build communities, houses, we role-play, we have build battles with each other and create different sculptures etc. It's a great way to be creative and use your imagination WITHIN the gaming world, all in a dry house. They also like Roblox, which is an online gaming platform where users can create games etc. It's child friendly and there are thousands of games that can be played without the worry of mature themes etc. They aren't ALL bad, but I get the point that Peter and others are making - like anything else, it can get out of hand and consume your life. Everything in moderation. “ They also like Roblo “ I really like bagels and lox........😜😜😂😂😂

In response to where gaming might be in 20 years, I just watched “Ready Player One” on iTunes the other day. I had read the book (young adult genre) first and it is much better, but the movie was cool. If you grew up gaming it is worth the time, especially if you are in your 50’s. Being 62, I had to look up a few references to certain games.

PC gaming is not cheap most new video cards start at 250 and go up from there. I play a few hours everyday and it is retired guys and not the kids in these games. Sure the kids play but after the newness rubs off the old guys step in. I could care less about Tv except for one or two shows so I play my games. In team play we often use voice chat and I have cyber friends from all over the world. My PC is my entertainment hub loaded with music and movies that I can stream to the smart Tv or play music outback via Bluetooth. My monitor is 28 inches and displays in 4k resolution via two graphics cards and has picture in picture. Wow we have come a long way from a 25inch Curtis Mathis console playing pong.

What video cards are you running? I picked up a nvidia gtx 1050ti 4gb early last year for about $130. Everything I play on that machine is running at max or near max on 1080p and getting 60 fps. No 4K TV or monitor for me yet so I don't see a need to upgrade yet, but it would be nice. Laptop is running a GTX 1060 6gb though. I'm curious to see what it could do with 4k.

You can also save some bucks rolling the dice with a used eBay card. I just scored a 560Ti for $45 with shipping. The fans (it has two) died after a week, but was able to Amazon new ones from China for $7.87 w/free shipping. Don't laugh at my old 560 - it replaced an 8800GTX (cough, wheeze) that had died.
BTW, I have a new favorite manufacturer and model: MSI's Twin Frozr II models. They have two big heat sinks, four heat pipes and two fans. The box says they run 20° cooler and they really do. My new MSI Twin Frozr 560Ti idles at 31°C, and the hottest I've managed to make it (with DiRT 3) is a paltry 76°. I am using MSI Afterburner with an aggressive stepped fan profile, but running at the stock fan speed of 40% from 30°-40°.
Also, my MSI is factory OC'd (so you assume it will be stable). Stock 560Ti's core clock is 822MHz, with a memory clock of 4000MHz, mine is running 880MHz and 4200MHz, and still idles at 31°. Big shout out to the MSI Twin Frozr line; I see no reason to buy a different card for the foreseeable future. The new fans at 40% are quieter than the clicking of the hard drive.
First thing I did was re-install Skyrim and crank all the sliders to max, and it didn't break a sweat: mid fifties max for the temps, and I can finally see the ants on random logs! Huge shout out to MSI for the Twin Frozr line, objectively better than my old favorite EVGAs

RNB I run two gtx780 6gb cards my frame rates at 4k are well over 80fps. I keep running these cards because they can render CAD work and I paid a lot for them. When they die I will probably go with two GTX 2080 or whatever. The biggest drawback is the heat they produce drawing 250watts each. Roughly 4k is twice as hard to reproduce as 1080p and when rendering the more on the screen the harder it is to display. Nvida kinda works like this 60 is gaming entry. 70 is super sweet spot and 80 is your wife better not find out, If you run two cards in SLI you need your head examined.

I haven't even dared to look at the GTX 20 series cards, the prices are still sky high on the 10 series! Thats awesome you are getting so much out of running the 780s in SLI. I got a full tower and a 900 watt modular PSU years ago intending to run SLI when they first introduced it but I never really got around to it, just wound up buying a new one from the newest series when I built a new rig.
