I am heading to the land of the mouse tomorrow. Food and wine festival , we have annual passes and go about twice a month. Anyone else have fond memories of Disney world in Florida? I’ll get some pics up for you tomorrow.

I just can't stand queues though. That said, I've a daughter who uses a wheelchair a lot so apparently she can get concession so she doesn't have to queue. I went to Alton Towers on a rainy weekday in October for my 30th and we were almost the only ones in the park. We walked straight to the front of the queue for almost every ride. It was bliss. Have a great day and enjoy the magic.

I consider myself fortunate to be acquainted with Ron Miller and the rest of the remaining Disney family...

I am glad that it exists for those inclined to go there, a world of wonderment for young and old alike. I wish shows like “The Wonderful World Of Disney” still reigned supreme on Sunday nights, as a kid I loved the show.
I took my kids to Disneyland in the summer, it sucked, long lines, sweltering heat, the adults crowded the night parade route where kids could not see. The next time, we took the kids out of school mid- November and had the run of the place... a great time.
As I get older though, for R&R, I prefer to be away from the crowds, give me the back country.

...if you ever find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Walt Disney Family Museum will bring back all the good memories of the days of "The Wonderful World of Color..."

Is Superbowl Sunday still a good bet to avoid the crowds? Even though I grew up in SoCal, we only went about once a year and it was such a special occasion. And yeah, Star Wars ain't Disney, and either is Indiana Jones. I know it was never exactly a non-commercial enterprise but it seems to me that it was a bit classier back in the day. Putting a Johnny Depp animatronic in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is sacrilege. Ever since they got rid of "Journey Through Inner Space" and started all the tie-ins with modern Disney and non-Disney movies, I kind of lost interest.

Never been to the Florida park.
I visited The Magic Kingdom in Anaheim with my aunt and older cousin back in '57 or '58. The Matterhorn was still under construction- a large steel frame with some covering. I recall it towering over the orange groves and subdivision housing.
It was an amazing experience for a child of six. Frontierland, Jungleland, Tomorrowland, all affected me.
Returned in 1968 and it was not so fantastic as I was a highly skeptical teenager.
Hope you enjoy the trip. Say hello to Donald and Goofy.

That sounds wonderful! Congratulations. Yes. All the time as a kid.
I've been to both many times. Disneyland CA has become a bit nastified IMO, the crowds are gross, and it's is crowded to the point of being absolutely pointless.
Disneyworld Orlando is far, far better than Disneyland in California IMO. Especially if you have kids IMO. The only downside for me is Disneyworld doesn't have the Blue Bayou resturant or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Your going during the weekday so this is smart. Avoid the crowds.
Congrats.

Oh man... wow ... um ... uh .. no I should'nt say it but .. if you decide to visit .. I would strongly recommend Orlando .. or if you ever go back to CA to visit .. you're going to be in for the shock of you're life..
I've been forced to go 6 or 7 times and I cannot stand it .. I literally stick to the old rides (after waiting 2 hours in line sweating) or stand outside the park and stare at the wedding area everyone passes by which is beautiful or stare at the buildings ... it's like I'm looking at the skeleton of Walt's original Disneyland .. just to feel that special feeling .. They've replaced allot of good rides with stupid cartoon rides .. changed the Haunted Mansion to the Nightmare before Christmas .. added other rides which have nothing to do with the original spirit of Disneyland whatsoever .. they are taking the original characters like Snow White and Cinderella and changing them .. I'm sorry to be politically incorrect but Snow White isn't Asian and Princess Jasmine isn't blonde .. the younger employees they are hiring simply do not have the same level or care or pride in their jobs. They are keeping wages the same or less .. yet tickets are astronomical and the park is always packed to a fire marshal status ..
Each time we tried going on obscure weekdays and days which crowd tracker said it was a ghosttown ... and it was packed to the gills .
The crowds, and types of people attending ... it's just .. .I can't do it anymore. and after 4pm the crowds get dirtier and dirtier ...
Disneyworld Orlando wins for me .. hands down .. leaps and bounds ..

Back before the dawn of time I worked in the Disney matte department and worked on the Mexican Pavilion for EPCOT. A decade passed before I got to see the work I had done, when I was sent by Warner Bros to look at the stereoscopic 3D shows at Disney World, Disney/MGM and the Universal Florida park. I had a ball, especially since the studio was picking up the check! Beautiful park!

My wife and I took the kids a few years ago. We were there for a few days and had an absolute blast. It was a top-notch experience from start to finish. And for those few days, we were all kids again. Well worth the money.

When I lived in Florida, I visited the park from time to time. Funny enough I spent more time in Disney World during my graduate school years at UF. Why one might ask? Well Gainesville is much closer to Orlando than Miami and with a years pass it became pretty inexpensive;nice place to unwind. My wife also loves the place. It is where we had our honeymoon.
