I had a look at the reviews, and concur with the general consensus. But I buy flakes to roll them. Scottish flakes are to light , thin & too crumbly to roll, so I am disappointed, I did not even rub & fill a bowl, I will not buy more. The Scottish has a lighter colour and the fruity tin note is not as deep as the University flake, the fruitiness is like a plum jam rather than a fresh note of fruit & the Scottish is not as evenly textured with the component tobacco's, as the University. The University is my favourite rolling tobacco so far , it will roll and because it is a thicker cut , and more even textured, than the Scottish & is more oily , it allows you to roll it comfortably. The fruitiness of the University is a deep plum jam with hints of mature spices, Both are EU products. I have bought a few plugs intending to slice them and roll them , but the size of the plugs I have bought, all are two small for me to slice to a satisfactory roll, so I will not buy anymore plugs, the problems of buying stuff online. Having looked at the Bremen Pipers videos on making your own plugs, & the Dagners videos of making plugs, I have a few ideas of making my own, both the mentioned pipers use metal presses they have made or have had made, either square or round, my solution is to make a strong wooden press, of the dimensions to suit my needs, but it is only a pipedream presently,

Good review, Stan. I just opened a tin of University Flake and was pleasantly surprised by how smoky it tasted. The plum was not overwhelming so it played nicely with the entire blend. I think I'll fire up a bowl right now. Thanks.

Stan have you tried Petersons Irish Flake? I have had both and prefer the Irish Flake.

Yep, Irish Flake is one of my go-to tobacs; never fails to satisfy. I always keep some University Flake around for a change of pace and it sure is tasty.
