About 7 months ago, I got this estate Nording. The bowl is preposterously enormous, and I hardly EVER smoke it. Not just because the bowl is so large, but I think the stem is suspect, which makes me kind of resent buying it (I had JUST started back in with pipes at the time). I know, that sounds petty and silly. It's just a pipe. I feel what I feel. What can I say? I haven't seen any other Nordings with stems like this, but I'm no expert. The stem doesn't seem to fit the feel of the pipe, and it's somewhat loose. So, I wonder if it's a replacement. Any Nording experts out there that can offer their opinion on that? If it is, maybe I'll make my own dern stem for it, then I'll feel better about it

Very nice looking Nording, for those pipe smokers that enjoy smoking a Freehand. Me, not so much, only own 3 Freehand pipes.
That stem looks like an aftermarket, I’ve seen that same type of stem on other pipes. Might be a Vermont Freehand stem??

...stem looks OK to me... if it's loose, there are easy ways to fix it. If you want to get rid of it, PM me, lol!

...you can put a paper-clip into the tenon, carefully heat it up with a Bic lighter and make it fit again...

It's a gorgeous pipe, and like DT said, there are plenty of ways to expand the tenon ever so slightly so that the fit is neat. That might make the world of difference to the pipe. At the same time, it would be a good project for you to make your first stem.

The bowl is 1 3/16" wide, and over 1 3/4" deep. I don't even know what to smoke in this. I bet it's 3+ flakes.

The stem is pretty darn soft, and oxidizes VERY quickly. The pipe smokes well, which is the important thing. The tag didn't say "replacement stem", which I think it SHOULD have, and now that I've been at this for a little while, I wish I had thought to ask. There's not much resale value, if I ever wanted to get rid of it.

I'm gonna make a new stem, and make it my own. I've smoked this pipe twice today, and it's smoked both Arango Balkan and PS LNF absolutely wonderfully. Dramatwist, I'm keeping it. It might have been a hidden gem all along.

You may find it smokes better than any replacement. But, I do look forward to seeing what you make for that stummel.
