As some may recall, a short time ago I had a harmful depletion of my cellar quantities and smoking apparatus. Some "younger" person/s helped themselves to my tinned blends and a stash of pipes,as well as some unimportant items that really weren't worth the time to throw out.Well yesterday,my son was in town visiting friends from his school days.He dropped in at a buddies house who married a young lady that is a close friend of our family.Well sitting there on the coffee table is four pipes and a tin of OGS. My son ever looking for smoking friends, asked him when he started smoking a pipe. His reply was he'd just recently decided to try and quit cigarettes and thought the pipe would help.Problem was,two of the pipes my son recognized. He had bought them off Ebay for me.The tin was dated with my initials. Any who,my son stayed for about an hour gave our Lil Sis a hug and left.He came over to my house, related what he had discovered and we returned to visit with his "buddy".When I came thru the door his wife just said not the face and no hospital. She took both cell phones and went into the kitchen. I now have three tins of OGS,another tin of Nightcap, a tin of EMP,and five of my pipes back."Buddy" will have a noticeable limp (shouldn't have tried to kick) and has lost his appetite for a few days.I did inform him that if he wanted to try Honest pipe smoking, I would help him out.But if he ever stole from me again,I would take body parts as souvenirs. Lil Sis realized just where he'd gotten the pipes and such when she saw the glint in my son's eye.Had coffee ready for me right after the "discussion".

You did well, I would not have. I cant stand a thief! Being a "friend" makes it SOOO much worse.
I'm glad that you got some of your stuff back.

Glad it turned out you got most of your pipes back and some of your tinned tobacco’s. Lil Sis was your daughter, the sister of your son, his buddy is dating Lil Sis? Your a better man then me Mathew, if I had any one over my home and I knew for sure he/she stole from me, there would be NO RETURN! Bad enough “ buddy “ is a thief, he was a friend of the family!! I’d teach him how to smoke....but the pipe would not be puffed from his mouth👌👍👍

Can't abide a thief...especially someone that is known by the family.

You are very kind Matthew, I doubt if I would have let it go at just that. Real happy to hear you got at least some of it back, I would make sure he tells you where the rest is and pay them a visit also.

I remember you posting about the theft - I am astounded that someone who knows you has the audacity to do such a thing. I'm glad you got your stuff back and I hope that guy has learned his lesson...but were there not more items stolen? Did he flog them off or was that all that was stolen?

Matthew I'm happy to hear you got your pipes and tobacco back. When I read your original post, I figured it was someone close. You've got a good son.

My son and I have a very close Friendship. He and I have shared some interesting times, and more than one good fight. We're Norse/Okie/ Redneck and I added Infantry to the mix.So Pig-Headedness is just natural. I ran into a old buddy of mine who was telling me about a young twirp crying about getting whooped on by an old man.He should have asked before going further, the "Boyz" gave him a second treatment at the bar.Seems I have more Friends than I knew.Anyhow,I asked them not to give him a third, but watch him.We want him to grow up and be a man (ya know).I went over to check on the adopted family, She's doing quite well.Considering letting him come home. AFTER,he makes amends. She tries to be a good girl, shame she has to "raise" her husband as well as kids.

If I give someone something we're still friends. If they steal from me I never want to see them again. I’d forgive but never forget........friend or family I’d never trust again. Therefore no reason to have any further contact with that type of person!! I agree with Larry👍👍

The OP reminds me of events during my teenage years.
As an adult I feel pity at a person so thoughtless or desperate enough to steal over something so trivial in the big picture. Friendships and relationships with good neighbors in a community are far more important.
