“Which one’s Pink?” Have you ever wondered what it would’ve been if Syd didn’t lose it? Along the same lines of psychedelic British bands and musicians, how about Mike Oldfield?

I doubt it, but like the optics. That was awesome Charlie! Was this recently? That aired last night, but they were hinting at where Paul’s “surprise show” was going to be, and that happened a week ago at Grand Central Station.

That’s one of those stories they’ll tell forever. So cool. What’s really troubling is many young people never heard of the Beatles. BUT, yesterday my son’s best friend was wearing a Sgt Pepper’s t-shirt. He’s 9 and knows all about them. He told me his favorite Beatle is Ringo. When I told him Ringo was their second drummer, his response was : I know, Pete Best was their original ! He’s got cool parents. Holy hell! A spark of hope for this planet! My 20 year old daughter is a huge Beatles fan (she doesn't smoke a pipe, though)

I was at a buddy's house for a get together to get to meet his youngest daughter's fiancé. He's about 23 and a pretty good kid. My buddy is in his late 50's and I'm in my late 40's. The other buys were about that same age. After dinner, we were hanging in the den drinking and smoking cigars, and my buddy puts in Dark Side of the Moon. The young buck seemed shocked, and said "I love Floyd, you guys listen to Pink Floyd too?" A long moment of silence after that. I don't think I need to mention the comments after than bomb. I went home and grabbed a bunch of vinyl, bootleg, live Floyd shows. The kid was floored. He's a really good kid - med school, hunts, fishes, respectful, etc. Funny how youths act like they "discovered" the music of their parents and grandparents, like it's some secret coolness only for them. My nephew's 16-year-old girlfriend was amazed that I knew who Syd Barrett was, and especially that I knew all his music. I went from being some older guy in the background to be blanked out, to being the coolest adult ever. There's some saying that every generation of teenagers think they invented sex - I think it's the same with music.

I remember in the late 1990s, a seventeen year old kid was bragging about getting a Sgt. Pepper CD by this new group he had heard and wondered if I knew who The Beatles were. It was hard not to laugh at him.
