In Paul's age group its hard to find guys who havent had a pipe or two in the UK. Pipesmoking was such a massive part of British culture in the 50s-60s. Many didn't keep with it, or just augmented pipe smoking with their cigarette smoking in the company friends, though.
I think after hanging out with Bob Dylan a bit too much those guys were putting something else in their non-briar pipes, however. But thats another subject for another forum. ;-)

Paul McCartney gave up smoking weed once he became a grandfather. First time he smoked weed was back in ‘64.......that’s a lot of weed!!!

BUT, yesterday my son’s best friend was wearing a Sgt Pepper’s t-shirt. He’s 9 and knows all about them. He told me his favorite Beatle is Ringo. When I told him Ringo was their second drummer, his response was : I know, Pete Best was their original ! He’s got cool parents.

I was at a buddy's house for a get together to get to meet his youngest daughter's fiancé. He's about 23 and a pretty good kid. My buddy is in his late 50's and I'm in my late 40's. The other buys were about that same age. After dinner, we were hanging in the den drinking and smoking cigars, and my buddy puts in Dark Side of the Moon. The young buck seemed shocked, and said "I love Floyd, you guys listen to Pink Floyd too?" A long moment of silence after that. I don't think I need to mention the comments after than bomb. I went home and grabbed a bunch of vinyl, bootleg, live Floyd shows. The kid was floored. He's a really good kid - med school, hunts, fishes, respectful, etc. |

Lol Watched a video where they show music and even lyrics from Led Zeppelin and where the influence came from and how similar they are. It wasnt criticism, just showing how things get recycled into something new with inspiration. It was pretty interesting but yeah, there's only so much that can be created using the same tools. |
