I guess I want to put some EA Carey notes down first. If I were ordering a pipe or accessory from him I would not be afraid to have some of his blends of tobacco laid on me... knowing it's mostly Peter Stokkebye. I am not positive about the Apple Pie blend, but the Berries and Cream and English Oriental Supreme and the Champagne are all PS. One blend stands out: Cherry Cream Pie. I had to look it up after smoking it, as it was very good. He claims to mix the Cherry and Vanilla tobaccos right before he ships them. I would grade this a 4.5 of 5 stars IN RELATION to other cherry blends. It's mild, but still full flavor, and in his Magic Inch pipe keeps its flavor
C&D thoughts. @lonecoyote was totally right on in leaving things tinned for a year. It made a large difference in at least one tobacco... that I have a pound of, so big deal for me.
Last year I bought all three Christmas Blends of C&D. Loved the CCP&BN right off the bat. Golden Days of Yore and We Three Kings ripped my throat out and I heard some "spirit laughter" emanating from my pipe while trying to swallow all the blood that was pouring from my innards. I tried Yore several months later and it was peachy keen, without the peach. We Three Kings I was sort of starting to get, but it still had some cinnamon attacking my precious vocal chords. It was at that point I knew it had possibilities, though. Now, over a year on, I smoked 3 bowls since yesterday. All were smooth and the spice was there, but like a little black pepper in a brown gravy. I had some coffee with it, as well. This is the first real time I got excited about a coffee and smoke experience. One played off the other. The aftertaste on my tongue was all spice (allspice, too). There was no burn or tingle. It was just spice marinating my tongue. As a Christmas Blend I give this a rare 5 of 5 stars. As a regular tobacco you would not make an all day of it, but repeated smokes are great, and it's at least 4.5 of 5 stars overall.
So the next issue: Is Legend Lover an Irish Blessing or a Nutty Irishman (C&D variety)? Both of these tobaccos are really grand, but I am opting for Nutty Irishman to do some loading up on. This is sort of a Trout Stream Autumn Evening Hybrid. I had bulk, so I don't know how long it aged, but these being a sweet/savory more than spicy may not need age. I might rate Irish Blessing later, but Nutty Irishman is a 4.5 of 5 Stars overall.
PS Champagne EA Champagne, Sutliff Champagne, most likely all the same. No rating yet. The flavor seems to come and go and it may be the pipe I smoke it in.
Was looking for a plug cutter, but at the cost it would not be worth it for the few plugs I have (maybe 12). So, I do what I always do. I use table knives for screwdrivers and duct tape for handcuffs (when needed).
Home Depot has a hunting knife set that comes in a hard plastic case for less than 10$ Pic below. They all came razor sharp and though maybe put together inexpensively, seemed sturdy.
I have not tried it yet. I also bought a Mandolin Slicer for less than 10$. You can look those up on Amazon for images. If I like it I may buy a more expensive Mandolin for food. Oh, and I better make this clear. The slicer is called a Mandolin Food Slicer. I am not using a Mandolin to slice plugs, even though Xuan has a Mandolin and I am not that dumb
