I'd be interested in hearing how the plastic-metal pipes smoke. They are a perfect smoke, they take a 9mm filter, and can take a metal mesh in the bowl which you can use with carbon granules to make a cool , dry & clean smoke. As an ex engineer I would love to make plastic pipes with inner metal bowls with Computer design and 3D scanning and 3D printing for one off prototypes, or to make a mould for larger quantity manufacture, but a pipe dream, think of the possibilities, your own portrait or your wife's portrait or favourite celebrity or heroes face on your pipe, the possibilities are endless, but I have no capital, necessity is the mother of invention, as a failed space engineer...pipedream over , over to you Scotty...you can also produce exotic stems and mouthpieces the same way..it is not a Bill Gates industry, more a hobbyist dream...
