I tried this for a fruit salad thread on another forum, and even though I don't usually cross-post I thought I'd share my brief review here, as a sort of public service announcement: All my theoretical defenses of this blend have just flown out window. Never again will I say, "why is orange/cherry/peach etc. okay, but not grape?" Because I have now learned the hard way that grape is not okay as a tobacco flavor. At least not in this blend. One might say, "well it is CB, and it's grape - 'nuff said." But I like to keep an open mind.
It is grapey as kraken said - like burning grape Bubble Yum. But it's also strangely musty. It reminds me of a moldy corn tortilla. We all know the old gag about Mixture No. 79 tasting like a urinal cake, but this raises the bar: it tastes like cat pee. Like a litter box that needs to be cleaned. Seriously. Something about the artificial grape mixed with whatever tobaccos they used results in this weird combination of flavors. I hope it's true that cobs don't ghost.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to try a bowl CB Grape, luckily I used a cheap Cob..... it was a Legend that cost under $5.00. It was like smoking burnt Bubble Yum, I can count on one hand how many tobacco’s I smoked in the past 50 years where I had to immediately brush my teeth. To this day if I pick up that Legend it has the aroma of burnt Bubble Yum!! Can you imagine the “ ghosting “ of one of my good briars.
This proves everyone’s Ph balance and palate is definitely different, for I know a few pipe smokers that enjoy smoking CB Grape. Out of respect for those that enjoy the blend, I choose to go no further with this thread!!!

I keep saying that it's not THAT bad. It just tastes like Nu-Grape soda to me, but with tobacco smoke added. Much better than M79, in my opinion. I find M79 completely unsmokable. That said, I will not be buying any more CBG.

Yeah, I should have said YMMV as with any subjective review. If you enjoy this blend, I won't hold it against you!

Yeah, I should have said YMMV as with any subjective review. If you enjoy this blend, I won't hold it against you! I didn't say that I enjoyed it, exactly. I just didn't hate it, and I can see where it's possible that for someone, somewhere, this could be their favorite blend. You know, it's possible, right?

Oh come on guys don't be so harsh. CB Grape has its uses, it keep the animals out of the flower beds. To sweeten the smell of the men's room in a biker bar. To sweeten the room after a perfume bathed lady leaves the room. To feed the honey bees when the flowers die. To have something to give that hipster who always tries to get into your tobacco. To smoke in a pipe to give to said hipster. To leave a sent trail if your lost. The most needed item to put in the out side trash can to cover the stench

Sounds like a dud and smoke after a ton of wine tobacco.

It has the same appeal to me as hitting my hand with a hammer. Some things you just know do not work, and I'm an aro guy! And, if my entire life is spent without trying that, I do not feel as if I have missed out.

There is a line from movie called "Ford Fairlane" that is appropriate, if somewhat offensive - "It's like masterbating with a cheese grater. Mildly amusing, but mostly painful."

I thought it was hideous, but tastes change. Maybe not that much, though. JimInks, in the name of science, I will gladly send you what's left of this pouch of CB Grape if you agree to review it!

Isn't all the Captian Black, Super Value, Smokers Pride, etc: the same? They are all Black Cavendish and some sort of flavorings and additives.

In all honesty, I really don't like that phrase, "bad blend". Every blend is somebody's favorite. If somebody doesn't like a blend, they don't like it, and are entitled to that opinion. What we like is fairly subjective anyway, so why trash something somebody likes? Btw, these comments are for a general audience, not aimed at my friend Chico in any way, shape or form. I don't want anybody getting the wrong idea about that.
