After conversation started about the Goodwood festival earlier, I dug up some old pics of a project my father and I worked on some years ago. It’s far from a Ferrari or Jaguar but it has the spirit of one. A budget corner carver we restored in dad’s garage over a couple of winters. 1977 MGB.

Dave, beautiful MGB....outstanding restoration 👍👍. A friend had an MGB-GT restored back in the 80’s. I always had a soft spot for the older British cars. In the late early 70’s I owned a ‘64 Triumph Spitfire purchased in mint condition for $850.00...those were the days! I helped a friend replace a transmission in an Austin Healey Sprite. Had to remove the seats and carpet, the transmission was also bolted thru the floorboards. The car was positive ground as well, shipped from the UK. Also replaced the throw-out bearing which was made of hard pressed carbon, that’s one reason they never lasted long.

Lovely car. My MGB is a 1977 too. My first one was a 1967 that I drove while in college. They are fun to drive and almost everyone has a MG story. Enjoy yours.

I've always liked MGs, and I have owned 3. First was a 1963 B, then a 1964 B, and lastly a 1960 MGA coupe. I loved them as they were so much fun.

That's a beauty. It's nice to have something like that to do with your dad.
A few weeks before my dad died at built an office together in my garage. I'm so glad to have been part of that.

Dave...does this reside with dad, or you? I will assume you'll keep this in the family.
My pops passed 7 years ago this November, and I treasure everything we shared together. No big projects like a car resto, but many small things.

The Magnette was a very handsome car. I do love the older British cars.

My everyday vehicle before I became ill was a 2006 Mazda MX-5 Limited Edition, metal flake red, black leather, Bose sound system and factory turbo. Only 3,500 models were made for World Wide distribution. On the front center column there was a metal emblem with this number 555/3,500. I did not care for how the new non-aggressive Michelin tires handled in the rain. They were replaced by the dealer with Yokohama Ultra High Performance tires for roughly $400.00 extra. Without a doubt the best handling Roadster I ever owned, that’s including my 1976 Triumph TR-6!! It was a sad day.....April 8th 2012....the day I sold the car privately to a gentleman that traveled by train from upstate NY. He saw a number of pictures and a few videos I emailed him. There was no haggling on the price I told him, he agreed before making the trip. We went to my bank and cashed his certified check then off to Motor Vehicle. I waited with him for over an hour, drove him back to my home and off he drove. About a month later I received a phone call thanking me and he’s enjoying his new to him Roadster 👍👍

The Magnette was a very handsome car. I do love the older British cars. Yes it was! I was partial to the Rover P4. A solid Middle-Class car driven by solid Middle-Class types and who usually smoked a pipe. I drove a Rover P6 for a few years. That was a great car except when it rained.

My Dad ^^^^^^^^ may he RIP owned the exact car in this awful gray color. Well, the Britts were known for ODD colors....even today!!
The Rover drove smooth, was built like a tank. I can still remember how thick the leather was throughout the interior. Oh, at the time my Dad smoked a pipe for a while....he stopped because he kept getting the hiccups! I believe he was sucking in to much air.
