A few days ago Don posted a thread in the Hobby section about petrified wood. I commented that I’ve always been fascinated by it but had only seen it pictures. I also stated that maybe one day I might own a piece. Yesterday I received a box in the mail from Don that contained six fabulous pieces of petrified wood.
Don and I had never really interacted much here on the Patch. Basically he was a stranger except that we both are members of the forum. Obviously this didn’t matter to Don. His love for his hobby, (he’s a rock hound), and his compassion for his fellow man caused his unbelievable generosity to act. I’m actually kind of stunned by this. People may often give gifts to family, friends, and on occasion may give an acquaintance a gift. Giving a stranger a gift is not only unusual but rare. I’ve been witness and recipient of a rare heart motivated act of generosity by this man. Don is a rare breed and type of person that shows his true nature of caring by sharing the things that give him pleasure with others, even strangers without fanfare or expecting recompense. It’s people like Don that make this forum special.
Thanks Don for allowing the light of goodness and generosity that’s within you shine on the rest of us.
AJ

...we revisit the topic fairly often, but I believe it reinforces the fact that we have a small oasis here...

What a guy. That's an extraordinary gesture and such a kind thing to do. We really do look after our own.
I can testify to the generosity of our folk due to the number of people wanting my address to ship stuff across the world at dear know what cost.
Don, you're a good guy. And AJ, you're a well deserving person. Enjoy the gift.
