What is The Function of the "Like" Button? I know what it does, but what is the purpose...just to acknowledge the person's post?
Just curious.

Just curious. ...I see it as something to, if not actually "like" what's being said, as a way to acknowledge the remarks of the poster and thank them for sharing it. YMMV.

OK, That makes sense...thanks for cue me on this. Simple...I even “ like “ this👍👍. If a member took the time to start or post a thread and it’s somewhat interesting they deserve the “ like “ button . Helps keep most from posting.

Same here. I use it to acknowledge the post and the time taken to post.
It also helps me to know what I've read and what I haven't read in a thread.

I pretty much like everything here, but my use of the like button is spotty... I used to hit the like a lot, now it is just random for no particular reason. I think that sometimes people may get the wrong impression when I hit like on one persons post and not another’s.
Thinking about abstaining from it for that reason.

Agree with most of what's been said so far. Just thinking, though, maybe we should have a dislike button to let fellow members know when we don't like what they've said!

Sometimes I am reading through a thread so intent on the content, I forget to “like”. Not that anyone would care about my opinion of their post, but I feel guilty for being inconsistent.

I usually agree and “ like “ Roy. However in this case I too agree with Mr Dramatwist.....a dislike button could cause members looking to cut each other’s throat......the “ Patch “ would no longer be the forum it is today👍👍 Roy.....I still “ like “ you....😘😘🤪😜😂

I think it enhances the social aspect of the forum. It's a kind of acknowledgement that your post didn't just go into the void.

Mostly, I hit like when I appreciate what someone has shared, or feel I identify with the post - it may not be that I "like" what they said, because it may be they shared something negative that they're going through, and I'm being sympathetic or empathetic.
I like everything on the WAYS thread, because I feel it's in reverence to the poster's enjoyment of our shared hobby/passion/obsession.

I'm guilty of not ever "liking" a post...cause I didn't know what it was. For the most part I like pretty much like all the comments with the exception of someone jumping on someone else unnecessarily. That is not what this oasis is about...If I don't like something, I pretty much keep it to myself and try to ignore the commentor.
