It turns out that MTV does play real music videos! I skip this channel all the time due to their tasteless shows and "reality" series. But this morning I was scrolling through channels at the neighbors house and it said "MTV Classic Videos," I had to look. Sure enough, real music videos! The ones that were on when I was young.
So... if these videos are considered classic, am I as well?

It's sad how they went. I used to love MTV for their non stop music videos...And then the reality shows came and I stopped watching.

Hopefully itll be a while before I'm vintage.
It's sad that my car is almost considered an "antique."
MTV is crap now. I used to watch the top 10 videos of the week but then that went to crap. And then the real world, teen mom and 5000 spin offs of each came out and I was done with MTV. But, the older, real, videos this morning were GREAT.

For years MTV played all the best music videos that one could ever ask for. Their venue went in the toilet years ago! To be honest I didn’t know MTV was still “ on the air “.

Remember when a house had the option of MTV or VH1 based on one's music preference and they actually played music videos? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Same here. The "classic rock" channel plays songs that were hits in highschool. Most of the time I listen to the heavy rock channel, same story though.
Damn guys, I didnt start this thread to make me feel old. Thanks a lot!!!

Damn guys, I didnt start this thread to make me feel old. Thanks a lot!!! Haha You wanna feel old...these were hits when I was teaching in high school. Music back then was so prolific...so many great groups that split up and formed more great groups...Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Bruce Palmer, Richie Furay) which split and became other groups...some heady (no pun, intended) times. What's that about joints?

The grey hair on the side of head doesnt help either.

I remember the very first day they aired. The first video they played was "Video Killed the Radio Star".

MTV was founded in 1981 Half of Americans don't remember a world without MTV I cut the cord in 1989, lived most of my life without MTV. Somehow I survived. I just picked up cable again in retirement, never thought to check for MTV.
