I’m not aware of any situation where Facebook requires CC information. The bigger concern as I see it is obviously personal identifying info such as PW’s, birthdates, addresses, phone numbers, etc. have been compromised.
The bigger question is, how much of that algorithmic data that Facebook collects was compromised. That can tell someone more about you than the personal details.

I've never had a Facebook account; however, I was caught in the Equifax hack so thought I'd get this out.

Most believe there are only three credit bureaus - Transunion, Experian and Equifax; however, there's another flying under the radar: www.innovis.com/Although they don't technically function as a credit bureau, they collect the same data and are equally subject to a hack. I had to contact them in writing to freeze my information.

Hopefully none of ya'll are affected.

Wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last. What’s at risk is one’s personal data. Not much more can be gained. If you notice any new sub-links don’t click on them. That’s how a Trojan backdoor virus can be downloaded on your device. Keylogging software can be installed which at this point every key stroke you type can be seen and copied by hackers in China, Russia and now going on in India.
To be safe: wether Facebook is installed on your PC or MAC, any of your mobile devices simply uninstall and reinstall Facebook. Especially if you notice the graphic user interface of Facebook does NOT look the same as you remember.

No matter if one uses social media or not, even if they don't use the internet at all, information is still online. In life all one needs to do is watch their stuff but most people anymore never check their bank account or look over their transactions so that everything is accounted for. As for identity theft, protections can help but once the right information is collected one can easily use it and disappear before you are alerted. I also know this brings about the argument of how bad technology is. Yes, it comes with a certain negative side to it but all things have their ying and yang. When it comes to fraud and theft, people today are informed faster. Before computers, it could be years before you learn your information was used for something. They may not have used your money, but they used your identity. And data collection of activities, your ISP or mobile service is collecting your information anyways as well as other websites. I could care less what Facebook thinks it knows of me because my ISP knows even more and they know I am really freakin’ boring.

Since my first divorce I've wished someone would steal my identity, feel bad for me and fix my credit. I had 0 negative marks until my ex filed bankruptcy, flipped her car, totalled it and it didn't get paid for. I agree McWiggins, Our information is out there and easy to find. It makes it easier for "them" to get it, but also easier for us to watch it as well.

so far no personal issues. That being said, we have no "circle of friends" or any such. Only have a FB site so can catch pics of combined grands, two step great-grands. Have it cause the parents etc don't wanna send pics separately to us. If comment needed, just a few words

True story...when I was in college in Miami, someone broke the window on my car and stole a CB radio (which didn't work)..got window fixed that day. Next day came back to said car...window again broken, radio back on the seat along with a $10.00 bill. I guess they felt sorry for me. Laughed my arse off...still had to get the window fixed though.

Your window was once again broken because you let someone steal a “ CB “ radio that was not working. His or her way of getting even with you, for lack of caring about your local thief.....lol. The $10.00 bill might have been a second thought from “ the thief “!!

We live in a duplex and the other unit got hit... while we were at home. They made a little mess and made off with a throwaway cell phone.
I believe these must have been members of whatever group was getting stuff delivered to the other unit. No one there to sign for it, stuff got left in the doorway. I called FedEx and UPS. Reported the address. They basically told me there was nothing I could do to stop them from delivering. Huh? I opened up one box, called the dealer and told them how uninterested the delivery services were. Though I tried to return this item to everyone I could think of, no one wanted it. A 1.5 TB hard drive at a time when 1 TB was as big as you could get... for hundreds. I keep my scifi and old serials on it. Heck of a drive almost 8 years later.
Oh, and God Bless anyone trying to steal my info. They may wind up making payments for me
