This is a good tobacco but it doesn't feel like a good enough substitute for Frog Morton's Cellar. It was as if you took a tin of Frog Morton's Cellar and made it 40-60% less whatever that magic "is" that makes Frogs', ... Frog's. If they could just add that extra, something. I don't know. But it's missing "it". Burbon or Vinegar or something. I am honestly not sure what "it" is. It is a lightweight version of Frog Morton's Cellar. But it doesn't hit the mark enough at all for me personally, to want to buy it as a substitute.

At least you're branching out.
I wonder if it would help trying something that is almost the opposite of Frogs so that you're not going to even expect there to be something like Frog present in the blend.

What would you recommend?

I've no idea. There's no point in trying dunhill. How about a well established Samuel gawith or c&d or peterson or something like that? You might just stumble upon a winner. Or get yourself a tobacco sampler. That way you're not wasting money on tobacco you'll never smoke again.

Another sutliff blend that's a nice change of pace would have to be "African Queen" its as decadent as it sounds, no Frog Morton's but a good tobacc nonetheless.

The Latakia is very light in that one - maybe that's what your missing. I'd keep trying with the Sutliff aro-English blends. Maybe Blend 5 in the Private Stock series, or Modern English as I believe JimInks suggested?

Blend 5 is a good one and if that's still light on the Latakia, there's Old Professor. It's definitely a step up.
