The Rodney Dangerfield of pipes, Dr Grabow. I love my old Linkman’s and Ajustomatic Grabow’s. They perform just as well as any other celebrated manufacturers. I knew this old gal still had some life left in her. With bad sellers pictures, I picked this up on the cheap. I was pleasantly surprised when I dug into the old dark stain and found some lovely grain hiding beneath.

Dave, as always......superb restoration......looks better than the day it was made. I MUCH prefer the lighter stain you chose, makes that beautiful grain pop👍👍👍. Enjoy for many happy and healthy years.

That's a fantastic restoration. Does it take much work to sand the charred area away?

You always manage to bring not only life but beauty to the pipes you restore...truly a beautiful pipe underneath the gore.

That's a fantastic restoration. Does it take much work to sand the charred area away? Thanks everyone. This was a fun restoration. Legend LoverThis particular pipe wasn’t bad. I started with 800 grit and worked my up to 3000. Not a fan of micro mesh. I like real sandpaper.

I'm a little tired, and my brain is a little slow, so I'll just go with a simple "Holy sh_t!"

That came out real nice! Reminds me of a Comoy I did for a fella years ago that was in the same condition. His reply after receiving it back was "You took all the Patina off it!" My reply was "No Patina, DIRT and Filth". Never done another pipe for him again.
