Its an odd pipe, but smokes well enough, just wondering what the point behind it was, an anti-gurgle counter measure perhaps? imgur.com/a/SVgR7az

...looks a bit off-kilter, but I have seen that kind of drilling before...

Yea, it looks a tad off-centre, but I have one like this. I used some pipe mud on the bottom and it reduced the gurgling considerably. I'm assuming yours doesn't have that problem given your suggestion.

I don't think it's suppose to be that way.

That's a drilling issue. But it's a SMALL issue. Nothing severe, IMO. Nothing to worry about, especially since it smokes fine. Enjoy it in good health, sir!

Sometimes drilling like this will create a sump and moisture will collect there. I have an old cayuga with similar drilling and it smokes great.

That's what happens when a pipe maker doesn't take the time to carefully line everything up and then check before drilling a draft hole. Seen many of them that way..........not any of mine thankfully. Should smoke just fine despite it though.

This post made me think to check the drilling on all my pipes.

Just found one yesterday in an estate pipe I was cleaning. It was so off-center that it made me laugh out loud!

It looks like it might be a gurgler to me. Just my 2 cents.

Seems it would function like a Falcon or Kirsten, draft hole in bottom of bowl?
