Hi Guys!! Sorry for the absence, it's been a crazy year so far. I got to attend my first Chicago show this spring and it was a blast! I'm already looking forward to next year. My entry into the GKCPC Carvers Contest made the 7 day set (still super excited about that one!). Those are the highlights of my un-kid-related life!
How's everyone else doing these days?

Miss Scottie:
Welcome back from Momdom and Chicagoland! The lack of your presence here has been noted ...and you've been missed.
That Crosby/Merchant Service-style pipe with the wide silver ferrule shown in your "Some of my latest" thread is simply beautiful, and reminds me of one of his pipes which was sold by his widow Kathryn via the Butterfield auction house a few years ago.

That is precisely the pipe that my Bing is modeled after! Justin and I have been refining it over the past 6 or so I have made for him and I think we have finally come across the perfect proportions.

For those of you who may be wondering, below is an image of the late Mr. Crosby's Merchant Service Special pipe which was sold by Mrs. Crosby through Butterfields (now Bonhams - they acquired Butterfields in 2002):

The Merchant Service Special pipe shown in my post above is similar to (and, in fact, may actually be) the one that Mr. Crosby smoked during his 1972 interview by Michael Parkinson on his BBC show "Parkinson." Here is a link ( Crosby on Parkinson) to a video of that interview. Mr. Crosby may be seen smoking his pipe at the 15-minute mark; however, I encourage you to view the interview in its entirety, as it is simply delightful.

Great interview, Hunter. I have watched it before. Love it and love that pipe.
Scottie has really nailed the Crosby shape in my opinion. I have 5 I think now, that are all in the same general proportions. Aside from that... she does kick arse work in general. Can't go wrong with a Scottie pipe.
