Once again, I brought home a 1/2 gallon jug of what turned out to be Buttermilk. I missread the label while shopping. This leads to a shock while drinking the newly opened jug. Yes, I drink from the jug.
I am starting to like it but can see why the kitties turned their noses up from their bowl. A nice cold glass accompanying my Chili and Beans.
Clearly, it is the thing for biscuits and such.
Anyone else enjoy it?

Traditional buttermilk is very different than cultured buttermilk. Traditional buttermilk is what is left over after churning butter and is quite tasty. It is like slighty acidic skim milk. It is really popular in parts of India.
Cultured buttermilk is made by adding a yogurt culture and tastes like sour yogurt to me. It is only good for baking in my opinion.

Buttermilk biscuits, waffles, pancakes and even breads.......to thick and “ gunky “ for me to drink straight!! So, you wonder why your cats won’t drink it as well....they too remember what it does to their stomachs in under two hours...😜🤪😜😂😂
YOUBETCHA........really good in homemade cornbread

I used to weld galvanized steel, and galvanize poisoning would really do a number on you, drinking buttermilk helped a lot. (The calcium in milk helps remove the zinc build-up from your body.)

Whenever you read cowboys drinking milk, like going to the Widder Johnson's, or in Streets of Laredo, the McMurtry film, it probably tasted better as it was simply leftover milk from making butter. I have never had it that way. I prefer straight heavy cream for a drink.
My step-mother grossed me out showing me how to make it, by pouring vinegar in milk. I love all the processed things like pickle juice, but straight vinegar drives me from the room.
Bought some for Xuan recently when a few stomach issues came on. About 1 cup is gone. The rest is there I guess forever

I am partial to Kiefer and this cultured buttermilk is much the same although a bit more sour. I prefer sweet milk but can drink this since it is what I have. Sour never hurt anyone. Kind of matches my dispostion, anyway. No stomach distress, sits just fine in there. I shall endeavor to read more closely the fine print on the labels henceforth.

Not a big fan myself but it cant be beat for making Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. Be sure and read the packet real carful like as it comes in several varieties. I am able to get farm fresh cream but I don't care for pure cows milk.

I was just lecturing on the dangers of welding galvanized steel or "metal fume fever" in my Physical Metallurgy class. There are a fair number of welding engineers who take it so I like to keep it relevant. Zinc Oxide while harmless on the outside of your body really does a number when you inhale it as a vapor. Luckily it is relatively short lived and only causes moderate brain damage long term

Why they call it Buttermilk is beyond me, certainly doesn't taste anything like Butter or Milk except maybe Soured Milk or White Bile but, no one would buy it then would they.
