I heard of some people using a coffee grinder to cut their tobacco. I tried it this morning and it worked really really well. I got that carter hall cut and it packed great.
I've now got the grinder in my cellar.

I've never done it, but know a lot of smokers that use it all the time.

I've never done it, but know a lot of smokers that use it all the time. I had never thought of is before. But Carter Hall's cut is superb and packs so well, I figured I'd make my ribbon cut tobacco a little less ribbony. If packing is an issue for some then this might help. I'm going to try a flake next.

So I put in a flake of Germain's rich dark flake into the grinder and within 2 seconds it's perfect.
Why didn't I take heed earlier. Thanks to whoever suggested this.

Have used one for years for that purpose. But one has to be careful grinding pressed crumble cake baccy. why is that? Hot pressed plugs like STG Mick McQuaid or pressed crumble cake like SPC Plum Pudding can really crumble too much as it's easy to overgrind if one is not careful. Short grind bursts, frequent checking of contents and emptying out the finest grinds before resuming to grind the larger pieces is my advice.

Just be careful with the coffee grinder. Use it lightly, or you ay end up with tobacco powder!

It seems to work well with dense tobacco like plugs and ropes.
