Very nice I have two Spanu pipes and both are excellent smokers. A very under rated carver later in life he made everything from what was on his farm in Sardinia. That's when the Limone and Olive pipes started showing up.

The F R is rusticated grade F 2 and F 3 are higher grades reserved for straight grain pipes. You cant smoke grain so be happy. :}

Tom Spanu passed away in 2015, his uncle set him up to apprentice up in northern Italy where he lived. Tom worked with some greats including Radice and Ascorti. In 1997 he decided it was time to make his own pipes with his name so he returned home. Most of the Woods Tom used for his pipes were harvested from his own property and the F grade through the F3 (being the highest grade) are beautiful pipes, the R designation stands for rusticated.
Today the pipes are made by Tom’s 2 sons and his brother, you have a fine example of a little known name but a respected one, may it bring you fond memories and fine smokes, buy your bil a box of cigars, he did a fine thing passing that along to you. Regards. banjo

What a beauty!
Her father obviously had discriminating tastes in Briar.
I would ask her a brief history about her father, is is kind of nice to know something about the guy that had it before.

They are cigar smokers, he said his dad got it at a tobacco convention. They rather smoke cigars than pipes, light and smoke it people. I’m really happy to have in my stable ,looked up some more info seems maker is very underrated..

That’s a gorgeous bent partially rusticated Spanu Pipe, definitely underrated similar to Thomas Cristiano Pipes. You have a superb smoker, hope you enjoy for many happy and healthy years 👍👍👍

My Paronelli olive wood bent Apple May have been made by Tom Spanu. I have several Tom Cristiano and Calabresi (Tom Cristiano's other brand) pipes. @lonecoyote - You’ll be in seventh heaven for Cristiano pipes if you ever get to Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint, MI. Thousands of Cristianos and Calabresis. Several Spanus too.

Ron when I saw it it reminded me of the lamp in Christmas Story, it’s a Grade Millenno, I’ve had a bamboo shank pipe of his and his story was so intriguing it was a no brainer to buy it. It’s a fine smoker.
