ODF rubbed bulk version is an excellent smoke, for me any time of day. The tin or one pound version flake takes this wonderful tobacco to an entirely different level of smoking pleasure. More complex with a dark bitter sweet and raisin taste left on your palate. You owe it to yourself to try bothđź‘Ť
PS What’s.........oh, Ted...

haha! Mind in the gutter about liking each other's pipes. I had a friend over on Sunday and he kept coming up with horrendous play-on-words for "pipe t-shirts". I guess my mind still hasn't recovered.

Why not grab a tin and an ounce or two of bulk? No reason you should make a commitment to something you haven't even smoked.

To start out purchase 2.oz of ODF bulk rubbed and one 50gr. tin of ODF.....this is one tobacco you’ll like both, but really appreciate the tin flake version.

I wasn't sure if there was big difference between the tin and bulk, to be honest. Sometimes the bulk has been better than the tin for some things. I'll heed everyone's advice, yours included.

I find there isn't enough difference (if any) to matter or make up the price difference. The ready rubbed is 3cheaper, so I have about 15 lbs of it. And, BTW, it really is the flake rubbed out, because the bags have various sized pieces of the original flake mixed in. Unlike some blends where the non flake is actually made ribbon from the start.

I agree with Steve ^^^^^^^^^ the rubbed is definitely the flake rubbed out, but for me I enjoy the tin version a bit more. If I had to I could definitely live on the bulk ODFđź‘Ť
You owe it to yourself to try a small tin of ODF.

I was the ODF king for quite some time. It was the only thing I smoked and I stocked up on it, to the tune of about 20 lbs. Then... I lost the taste for it. But, I digress. The RR is the flake rubbed out, but in my experience, there were noticeable differences in flavor and even quality control with the RR. While my stock was in all RR because of the ease of use and my hatred for having to rub out flakes, I would say the quality and taste is more consistent in the flake version.
Also, storage is another variable with the RR. It's bulk, so there is no telling how it's being stored and for how long. All of these will impact flavor and burn quality.
Just my two cents.

Thanks, all. A tin and some bulk RR it is. I figure, it's popular for a reason, so I can't lose. And, if it's not for me, someone's gonna want it!
Though, if it's nice and dark, and rich, it should fit nicely into my current bailiwick.

I tried the RR first and really enjoyed it. I found the flakes are slightly sweeter though. I order the flakes 8oz at a time from an operation in WV. In my younger days I hoarded all the blends I could try looking for that one special blend I could enjoy exclusively. For me, this is it.
