My wife has taped pictures of pumpkins, and ghosts on the front door, She's also hung cloth things that loot like ghosts from the trees in the yard.Decorating for Halloween she says. Now when I sit on my porch and smoke I'm smoking with ghosts..OK..Not real ghosts. I don't know if there even are real ghosts or what they would look like. If they are real probably some of them are pipe smokers..It is a bit of fun though pretending that these ghosts are real,,.Now that I'm through being silly..Is Halloween much of a deal for you?

In mainland UK, Halloween isn't a bit thing, but guy fawkes night is.
In Northern Ireland we do Halloween big (and there's not a peep on guy fawkes night).
I still don't think we do it as big as the states, but there's a lot of parties, trick or treating etc. And a lot of houses are decorating.

When I was much younger I really enjoyed Halloween. When I was a Volunteer Fireman we had our annual Halloween party that was always a blast. Then as I got older I liked seeing my grandchildren dress up for Halloween. Now that they’ve all grown up and don’t dress up anymore, it’s a holiday I can take or leave it be!!

Trunk or Treat at church later this month. We enjoy the kids enjoying Halloween more than anything else.

… it has become so commercial and in our area there is a good deal of property damage/destruction that I don't care a thing for it...

Yeah, it's big here. Almost as big as Christmas. I get into it anyway. Ghost stories, parties, sacrificial lambs...
Ironically, St Paddy's Day is pretty big here as well- In the North-Eastern part of the country anyway.

Halloween was always big for me while growing up since it's my moms bday. I still carve pumpkins every year with my kids and nieces and nephew. It's not as big as it used to be, but I'd love to change that. It's my favorite time of the year

...I have a niece living in the UK who is REALLY into it... she has a pretty popular podcast about ghosts and weird stuff, but I've never listened to it...

Might I suggest an EMP meter, Heat Detecting Camera, Voice Recorder, and Holy Water? There is no fun in fake ghosts. Check for the real ones. They'll give you an honest opinion on your room note... and decor

My family has always had a lot of fun on Halloween. We decorate our house, carve at least two or three pumpkins, watch movies, and hand out candy. My youngest daughter has as much fun choosing a costume for the dog (mermaid this year) as she does for herself.

When we still had the big house people from all over would drop their kids off. I started making bags for the neighborhood kids and carving pumpkins early. You know the ones who pop out of driveways in front of you and draw a hop scotch out of chalk on your driveway. Then we would hide from the rest we didn't know.

I thought this thread was about Lakelands ghosts in briar pipes Halloween is not a big thing on the Dark Continent. Guy Fawkes is celebrated with gusto, although hardly any one nowadays know what the celebration is all about

It is for my 93 yo mother! She likes to sit in her chair on the front porch with her carved pumpkin ( which I carve for her these days) and bowl of candy. She loves seeing the little ones and their costumes. I sit on the porch with her and do enjoy seeing the little ones as well.

I do enjoy Halloween. I've been a fan of supernatural stories and film as far back as I can remember. So, this has always been a great time of year for me. As far as smoking with ghosts? Well, I think I do this regularly in a way.
Every time I smoke an estate pipe, maybe a previous owner is around me in spirit. Sometimes I even study the pipe while smoking it and imagine the places/people it has been around. I wonder what joys it celebrated and what pains it consoled for the previous owner(s). I try to imagine how a scratch or ding on the pipe came about and what memories may have been attached to the damage.
