Its good stuff for sure. If you're like me and pinch a penny good, know that C&D often goes on sale at many stores. When it does, load up.

Holy thread resurrection! I haven't smoked a vast amount of tobacco in my sporadic pipe smoking career, but Black Frigate has really captured my attention. Absolutely love the stuff...so much so, after buying a 2 ounce tin and after having a couple of bowls, I ordered my first 8 ounce tin and today I ordered another 8 ounce tin. it's always good when you find a blend like that. I've yet to find it.

I enjoy it as well. I quite often forget I have it and then see a thread like this, reminding me. Then I forget again. I should probably put some in a pipe soon.

Craig Tarler was at the top of his game when he came up with BF. Twenty years of smoking it and it's still in my top 5.

chasingembers What is your recommended storage method for BF? I have an opened 2 ounce tin and will soon have 2 8 ounce tins. Should I jar the open tin? Should I jar the 8 ouncers right away or only after I run out of the small tin? Should I leave the cakes intact or crumble them? Thanks in advance.

What you have open, jar it up. Anything unopened, you can jar it up too or just leave it in the tin. Either is fine and up to you. Leaving your cakes as-is or crumbling is also up to you. For me, I like to crumble my open cakes. Flakes or coins though I keep intact.

Black Frigate is awesome and highly recommended for cellaring. I enjoy it immensely. Id also recommend Pirate Kake from C&D. Similar but not navy style.

Ok, added this to a recent order to try. I can see how this blend would grow on you. Enjoyed it very much with a nice Gosling's Dark and Stormy last night.

It was Duane aka chasingembers that got me hooked on Black Frigate a few years ago. We had some HUGE Vessels on our page back then, Iβm sure Duane remembers. Some members complained and our pictures were forced to be downsized. Thatβs another story in itself.
