Thanks, chasingembers, for posting about this blend so much. I bought some and It's fantastic. And guess what? It's great FRESH! I can't imagine how good it will be with some age on it. I'll definitely buy more to sock away...

I like Black Frigate also. Blockade Runner might even be better.

I smoke Black Frigate a few times a week. It’s very good fresh, I let air dry when it was fresh. It’s excellent with a couple of years of age👌👍👍. Blockade Runner is also an enjoyable smoke, I haven’t smoked this crumble cake in quite some time. I have a few tins in the cellar with a few years of age.

Duane's been touting this blend for years! I still haven't tried it but have more Lat blends than I'll ever smoke.

I enjoy them both with Blockade Runner being just a bit more my style. I do not smoke as many Latakia/Oriental mixtures as in the past.

Duane's been touting this blend for years! I still haven't tried it but have more Lat blends than I'll ever smoke. Ah, but this is not a typical lat blend. It smells, to me, like dried stone fruit/prunes/raisins and leather. I pick up smokiness, but it's definitely more subdued by everything else going on. This is a pirate's blend, for sure.

So far, there hasn't been a Pease blend I haven't liked. Haddo's was a little rough fresh, but my jar has about 11 months on it, and it's far better.

Besides not enjoying the overall complexity, it bit my tongue after 3 puffs. After a year relaxing jarred it’s a superb tobacco👌👍👍. Some pipers enjoy Haddo's fresh, I’m just not one of them!

I gave AJ a tin and liked Black Frigate after the first puff. It’s an excellent krumble Kake.....you’ll really like the blend.

Thanks for the tip...guess I'll be getting some of that. Have you tried the War Horse Plug (Green). I've been told it is pretty good, but haven't gotten any yet. AJ is planning on getting me some...so I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to try it.

Blockade Runner is a straight Virginia soaked in rum, steamed, stoved and pressed into a krumble kake.

I bought my first tin of black frigate at the Chicago Pipe Show. I am anxious to try it but am making myself wait a year to crack to get a little age on it. I am thinking I had better go ahead and cellar some because I am pretty sure I will greatly enjoy the blend.

Duane's been touting this blend for years! I still haven't tried it but have more Lat blends than I'll ever smoke. The Latakia makes itself known in the background and frames the blend. Definitely not a lat bomb here.

Black Frigate is awesome!! I haven't tried Sextant yet to compare the two. Sextant is very similar in all but the cut. BF is a crumble cake and Sextant is a broken flake. Both are very enjoyable.

Holy thread resurrection! I haven't smoked a vast amount of tobacco in my sporadic pipe smoking career, but Black Frigate has really captured my attention. Absolutely love the stuff...so much so, after buying a 2 ounce tin and after having a couple of bowls, I ordered my first 8 ounce tin and today I ordered another 8 ounce tin.
