I'm just wanting to get a feel for how often and how many use the 'recent threads' view on the forum.

I rely on it. I know I probably miss a lot of valuable information but... I just like to see whats up and coming and recent on the site. A lot of us geezers are kinda set in our ways in smoking - so I am not really interested in searching one particular thing about pipe smoking or tobaccos. I just want to see how people are faring with their more recent tobacco and pipe purchases. I discover new blends and make decisions about pipe purchases that way

Pretty much exclusively. Even when I was looking for the Mail thread today, I went to the recent threads to find it because I had no idea what category it would fit in. Much quicker than looking through a bunch of sub categories.

I rarely use anything else unless I'm searching for a thread on a particular topic.

I am new here and initially started browsing the front page only to find I was reading posts from last year. Finding the recent post section was helpful to see what was contemporary.

adding to the above....2-3 times everyday. I have separate listings for the chat & for the Patch. Seems when used to read the Patch then link over to the chat from there.....it don't show list of folks who are at the chat (on right side).

Always. That's where my Patch link goes. The only time I go to the Forum Index is when I want to start a thread. This is why threads are started in the wrong category - I don't see what category threads are in, and it doesn't matter to me, I click one based solely on the subject line and the creator. You have to go to Forum Index to start a thread, but if it's not about tobacco for example, you see the General Discussion section and stick it in there, without noticing there is actually a Cooking, Eating and Imbibing category for your awesome barbecue recipe.
Which category a thread is in doesn't matter to me, and I don't even see that in the subject line.
If a subject line is weak, say 'Tobacco Question', or 'Interesting', I don't click; I like to have an idea what it's about first. Some folks I like to read, and click on their threads regardless of the subject.

I learned on different forum that uses the same basic software. So when i came here i kind of knew a lot of how it worked and what the knobs and thumb switches do.
I use the recent threads about 75% of the time, but about a quarter of the time I have a specific topic or subject area I am looking for.

I use it every time I log in. Also,I use the mark all read before I log out. That way I only see new posts when I come back.

When I first joined I never used it--went straight to the "Forum Index." That helped me learn where everything is. But for the last couple of months I have been using the "Recent Threads" feature almost exclusively.

That's an overwhelming majority. Interesting.
It's a great feature. When I've caught up with all posts, I use it every 5-10 minutes.

I mostly sign on through my iPhone. Until now, I wasn’t aware of the ‘recent threads’ option on ‘mobile view’. I didn’t realize this option was available. On the rare occasion I log in through my computer, I’ll use it frequently.

I've never used it.I only check into a few sections due to other concerns so having the screen filled with too much of a mix confuses me.I'm sure it's quite helpful but just not for me.

I marked "occasionally," but it's a very rare thing for me. I do it once in a blue moon. 99% of the time I go through each section individually.

I use it most all the time, say 95%. When I see something interesting, I can dive in; not interesting, I move on. Occasionally I'll use the forum index, but for general browsing, the recent threads all the way.

I pretty much stay on recent threads...this is the only forum I stay on..I look at 1 other just to see whassup...but I rarely post on it, tho I do log on in case there is something I might want to say. The Patch is my home...period. Any friend that I have, I drag them over here (I don't have but 3 friends...and they are here).
