This may be a bore to some, but I have been into computers, self taught, since 1985. Back then programs ran on DOS. One of the best games that went by the wayside was Jill of the Jungle. Xuan actually went through all three levels. We have both lamented this game now gone. At: archive.org/search.php?query=JILL%20OF%20THE%20JUNGLE You can play this online through their DOS window. One of those links will let you download that and a thousand other old DOS and Windows 3.1 games and programs. You can even Download an older version of Microsoft Office. I downloaded a program called DOSBOX and LaunchBox. Both work together to put in a great DOS environment that even remaps the old sound card files and commands to your new stuff. Even got an old Flat Line Database program that I lamented it being gone. I can also load some old basic compilers for oldsters like me who prefer: 10 Print "I am old" 20 Go to 10 instead of the drag and drop basic that the young whippersnappers are so good at. Also, major games available are Zork, Sargon (chess), and several versions of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards I can say no more

I used to love going through the abandonware and reliving my childhood. I haven't done it in ages.
I never played Jill of the jungle though.

To me, Jill is one of the best arcade games, along with Bruce Lee from the same era. It requires you to be quick, but not too quick.

Great game! I love playing classic games from DOS, arcade and the early consoles. Epic also made a great pinball series called Epic Pinball and featured Jill of the Jungle as one of their tables.

Are you still a gamer, David, or did you call it quits at a particular era? My mother for instance just stopped with SNES, but she still plays regularly.

I really suck at these games. I do well with casino, board, and card games. I did okay with Jill. I bought a PS4, but am always too lazy to go with it. Bought that space game that has unlimited solar systems. The game was dumb. So I set it for simple exploration. They still want too much stuff out of you. Just let me hit the joystick and go. Was okay with the arcades. Would take the wife and girls to them. Centipede, Galaga. There was a jungle game, like Tarzan, that the damned background music still plays in my head. Would love to have that one. Anyhoo, I am thinking of getting a cheap laptop and dedicating it to DOS and Win 3.1.

I think those are available for download, as is DOSBOX. Wow, on the JJ table. Will keep an eye out, thanks

All this is Chinese to me...never played the games, never interested in playing the games, wouldn't have a clue if it bit me in the a s s.
Love putting the space and getting the word I want...that is the limit of my gaming technique.

I played with Fractint a lot. A Fractint calculation that took 2 weeks on a 286 runs instantly on the new machines. If I still had to write papers, I would like to have Word Perfect and Lotus 123 again. Now my phone does 99% of what I need.

Never really got into games other than Pacman back in the late '70s. I've never even owned a computer.
