I'm trying to build up enough posts to be able to trade, so here's some post padding :
What's your favorite cut of tobacco (shag, ribbon, etc)? I go for flakes. How I prepare them varies - right now I'm mostly rubbing them out. The two I smoke the most of are Orlik Golden Sliced and Luxury Twist Flake, but there are others.
You?

I prefer ribbon cut, although a flake put through the coffee grinder is a close second, if not par.

I smoke flakes primarily--and mostly Virginia flakes. I never rub them out. It seems like it defeats the unique burning quality of flake tobacco itself. So I tend to fold and stuff. I might twist them a bit and rough them up a bit, but never rubbed out. Your mileage may vary....

Most flakes, plugs, and some ribbon cuts get chopped in my blender. Makes them easier to pack and sometimes I think it opens up the taste.

Don't care about the cut, only how it smokes.

I feel like Ronv69 but also agree with sparks on the cube cut. There is one variety of flake that I am learning to like and that is the slice. I can roll, fold, do the twist with.

Ropes and plugs, have found cutting across the grain on plugs (cut across the short side) the resultant flake almost falls into a cube cut. Generally cut and break up a little, let dry and pack light.

I have only had one cube cut and it seemed a lot like crumb cut, which I don't like because it clogs several of my pipes. I make an exception for WCDCC. 🤠😎

Coins! All of them. Love the tight ones and the loose ones like Bell's Yellow.
I also dig the really long, fine ribbon cut of blends like Dunbar.
Good luck with your post count. If you're a smoker, the "What Are You Smoking" thread is an easy way to put numbers up.

I use to be a big shag/ribbon cut fan. I've started smoking a lot more flakes though. I don't prefer one over the other. But since I can't pick a favorite, my least favorite cut is probably plug or rope. Not that I hate those cuts, just that I prefer them less than other options.

Flakes, broken flakes, coins, crumble cakes, shag, ribbon, plugs/ropes - in that order.
Edit: cube cut is somewhere in the middle.

I like plugs and ropes cause I enjoy playing with the tobacco. Flakes would be next for the same reason. Ribbon or ready rubbed is last cause it is just codger stuff, light and puff.

"Shag" mainly because of five brothers. Like all others too. See how that's done David. LOL!

Favorite cut? Ribeye. Oh, wait. Tobacco? I don't have a favorite. I kinda like a little of everything, although I do like to fold and stuff flakes and coins. Maybe just for the novelty? I don't know.

Flakes. Something in my mind says any blend pressed together is likely to have better flavor melding. Plus i can break them up into ribbons/coarse cut. I also find them aesthetically pleasing.
I also like cakes/plugs. Mostly for the same reason, but cutting the plugs can be annoying. An ideal world be every tobacco I get is a cake and I had the ability to cut it into flakes.

I'll smoke any cut, but my favorite tobaccos are usually plugs. I shave them into whisper thin flakes to load the bowl.

Over the years it's been mostly ribbon cuts with a broken flake or flake or two at times. As far as the flakfes go I thouroghly rub them out as I feel this brings out the blends flavors more.

Crumble Cake easier than a plug or a rope with some of the qualities of the plug or the rope. I like big chunks and I cannot lie …...
