The FDA's overreach needs to be entirely rescinded. They are only authorized to keep tobacco out of the hands of minors.

Surely adults should be allowed to make up their own minds!
The world has gone mad.

People in the service, particularly those in the armed services, putting their life on the line...should have all the conveniences that are afforded the rest of us. Legislators should reign in these over-reaching knuckleheads. Come to think of it...same same.

The FDA's mindset is that smoking cigars kills and if they want any American soldiers killed they want it done by the enemy.

My brother was with the Kandahar Koughers when in Afghanistan, now he is somewhere in Iraq....I know that JR cigars would send them stuff and they rallied around each other and had all kinds of events to raise money for their wounded buddies... www.cigaraficionado.com/article/the-kandahar-koughers-16051It gave them an escape from what this guys speaks of... My brother is in Iraq now, but I think he is not at a base as big as Kandahar was or is....The Kandahar Koughers served a lot of guys and gals.

Maybe the manufacturer can't send them but WE still can. I sent my friend several boxes of cigars, pounds of good coffee and tons of Gatorade powdered drink mixes. His entire platoon was quite happy! When it comes down to it though, they can tell you when to jump and how high ... GI = Government Issued

Send young folks to a desert half way around the world to get shot at.Then tell them that smoking a cigar is bad for their health.To me that qualifies as pure insanity.

"This has turned into a bipartisan fight, as Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL, 14th District), has introduced new legislation that would make it legal once again for charities to send cigars to soldiers."
::dazed and confused::
No matter which side of the aisle one is on, how is it that anyone can support denying a company from donating legal products to the troops? Weren't Lucky Strikes part of the rations for WWII soldiers?

Our family had them issued in our c-rats when we lived in Germany.... it was Lucky Strikes and another brand... (Every so often we were issued c-rats in case of emergency.)

I hate everything.
I wish I had thought take up pipe smoking in the Army. Lungs would've loved me for it. Five years of chain-smoking Camels and Pall Malls...
