A handy hint for those of us who love F&T Cut Blended Plug. Add this one to the list of baccies that you should DGT overnight, if you haven't done so already. This morning I picked up my Luciano pot/billard that I left two thirds unsmoked yesterday afternoon. I tasted an enhancement of a very good smoke that made it better in every respect. DGT'ing is effective for many Virginias and VaPers, I've found. One precaution that I use is to cover the bowl with a little dosage cup, to prevent any ambient sourness to creep in while DGT'ing.

One aspect of it is the timing. I try to keep the DGT time to a minimum, if possible. Ideally, overnight. Longer could be risking it.

Glad to reply: Delayed Gratification Technique. Light the pipe with both the false and the true light, smoke it briefly, lay it aside and enjoy it later. Not too much later, imo. Many blends taste better this way. Others taste worse, specially some aromatics. |

I thought I was the only one here who didn't know.  Friburg & Treyer Cut Blended Plug is one of my favorite tobaccos. I did not care for Cut Virginia Plug and gave away the few tins I ordered to another forum member. I have found that McConnell's Scottish Flake is very similar. We have similar tastes, @irminsul. |

Tried it a couple of times...wasn't impressed..but that is me, has nothing to do with the tobacco.

I had no clue what DGT was. I was waiting for someone else to ask I've did it with a few blends, unintended, and never realized it actually had a name. I'll try it tomorrow with the cut Virginia plug that I received. Maybe it will give it the little kick that it needs. |

thanks..i was scratching myself a spot bald on my head trying to figure that out.. I've done that quite a few times myself over the decades. Today I'm bald in more than just one spot. |

I actually DGT unintentionally frequently. I usually don't smoke for more than half an hour tops so if I load of a big bowl of flake or something slow burning, I usually have to come back to it later. I usually don't notice much difference but blame that on my unrefined tastes.
