I learned the hard way at the Knightdale PO. Just answer “ their “ questions. Don’t add....” I’m shipping tobacco “, I was told they would ONLY ship tobacco by Express Mail. Now I add no information that’s NOT asked!!! Since that last issue at the PO I’ve shipped tobacco’s 3 times with no problems 👌👍👍

I was really hoping for a good story. I'm disappointed. SORELY disappointed, as well. I was hoping law enforcement was involved, in some way.

I thought there would be at least a short aside about how he had to wear a disguise at the post office to prevent being recognized off the "Wanted" posters...all thanks to that dastardly clay pipe.

glad I stick to my long time ways of doing things. I buy it, use it for myself. No sell, swap etc to anybody. Saves a lotta grief about dealing with the above "horror stories". I'm not really anti-social person in general. Enjoy reading the Patch, good time at the chats. Good enuf

Shipping costs really add up... my son’s healthcare manual came to my house in AZ, I put it in a larger envelope, at 1 pound 3 ounces, it costed $10.

The tobacco I bought is either used by myself, or some sent to AJ, or used for an auction to support my favorite place in the sun. I have a recent friend whom I am happy to share tobaccos that I know he can't get either because the company (McClelland) is out of business, or because it is unobtanium. If you can't share with a friend, you are doing it wrong (in my mind). It also gives him a chance to try different blends and that way he'll have a better idea of what he wants to stock up on for his cellar. Not faulting just ol ed in the least, I agree with his thinking, but I have a different situation.

I'm not really anti-social person in general. Enjoy reading the Patch, good time at the chats. Good enuf Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY Pretty much the way I roll. I figure that most of the people online can afford whatever they need, and random gifting I don't know if it is a blend they are going to like, and the thought of paying for tobacco, paying to ship it a second time, only to not be liked by the recipient just doesn't make sense to me. One time, I had sent a hard to come by tin of tobacco that a person wanted to try..I shipped a tin, because I didn't want for him to get dried tobacco, as all I had were glad bags...I was appreciative that he let me know he didn't care for it, and I had him gift it to someone else...that tin was a real revenue generator for the USPS. I do most of my gifting at the pipe club meetings, that way they can try it and if they like it, off they go with some tobacco...last week I offered one member OJK, I figured he would like it...after a few puffs, he looked like he was smoking a pipe that had alum powder on the stem, and he had to dump the bowl. Had I sent that same guy 4 ounces of my beloved OJK, would have been a waste of product and shipping expenses. I do make an exception...some I know that through no fault of their own are in a situation where tobacco is a luxury, I try to help from time to time....sending cigars to the troops makes a lot more sense than pipes, cleaners, tools, etc... in an environment often where a pipe can get broken...stateside troops different story. The box pass that we did a few times was pretty neat in theory, but halfway through people like Darin and I believe John (Papipeguy) had to work on the box to cull all the dried out tobacco's, and although I had it in my possession for a month, with my schedule I rarely got to try most of it...that same sized priority box is now $20.00 to send to the next guy. I say all this to say that you cannot beat a physical pipe club, there are so many blends that I have never tried before at each meeting with all the attendees being eager to share....that IMO is the best way to share and gift...I realize that not all have the option, but John R and Kayla met up with me one Saturday...it only takes two pipe smokers to start, and it doesn't take that much work to arrange.

You're all good in my book. People are generous in different ways...plus, we have no idea what is going on in people's lives behind the scenes.

I am pretty much happy for anybody and whatever they do is their business. We have a great group here...far and above any other forum I have had the pleasure of being a member of. Whatever I can do to further this site, I will do.
Peace and love to everyone.

Yeah, certainly we all live different lives and have different dynamics that come into play in reaching out to others, and what works best. A clarification on my earlier post: I lied, I believe we all had it for two weeks at a time..
