Oh my God its getting cold, I guess I have to find a parka, gloves, heavy warm boots. Then start a fire so I can stay warm while smoking my pipe. The sun is going down and it is getting cold. I wish it was warmer, its getting cold. Damn the temperature has dropped below 80 degrees what am I to do now? What to do when the temperature goes down to 70 degrees or below. Its getting cold, oh god its getting so cold. There is no place for me to be warm while I smoke. What to do, What to do, What to do.

If it drops below 80, the coats and jackets come out. It was beautiful today by the way, a rare day in my part of the world. High in the mid-sixties and going to get down to the mid-fifties tonight. Perfect pipe smoking weather. Heading outside now!

A brutal 69F here in the swamp the weather was so brutal I wore a long sleeve T-shirt with my shorts and flip flops. If this keeps up I will to switch to Sperry top siders without socks to avoid frost bite. Also I cant find the USB coffee cup warmer. That could mean tepid coffee if not consumed instantly after pouring.

Oh, the pain of it all. It is close to gasp...58 degrees...I better get out the long johns, parka with fur all around the front and a face mask (the face mask is 'cause I'm ugly). You think I'm kidding? I'm from Miami originally (I don't tell too many people that fact) now I live in almost Georgia and it actually snowed here one year...well, they called it snow, could have been ash from someones' fire. Anyway, it is cold here and I can't even go on the porch to smoke cause it is too damn cold...old people can't deal with the cold too well....cause we are old and the bones and stuff don't work too well.

30 degrees this morning when I went out to the woodpile dressed in a thong and flip flops.
Actually, this time of year it is long underwear I wear and do not own a thong. Day high of 45. Typical for this time of year.

Tosh, please don't post a picture of you in a thong...flip flops are fine...for Paddy, ya know,... toes.

It surely is. I need to buy a heat pad to put underneath my butt while I smoke. Right now I throw a blanket over my legs and two jackets on my body. Sometimes two pairs of wool socks too. I'mm not looking forward to sub 30-degree weather.

For purposes of full disclosure, John R lives at the gateway to the lost Dutchman mine....at our pipe club meetings we have an electrified heated rock for a desert critter when it goes below 80.
It really gets ugly at the pipe club meetings though, when he wanders over to the tobacco and pipe counter leaving his rock, I jump on the rock...the last gunfight was a tipping point, I am getting my own heated rock.

LOL. It's 42 deg F here right now. Nice. I just got back from dinner out. Short sleeve polo shirt and jeans, no jacket required. I like it best when it's in the 50s and low 60s, otherwise, I'm too hot.

I'm loving the cool weather. Today the thermometer on the porch said 42 when I walked out in a pair of gym shorts and "a shirt." I turned my happy arse around and grabbed a hoodie and pajama pants. Then went right back out and lit my pipe. The high was in the high 60s to low 70s, not 100% sure I was busy. But it was a BEAUTIFUL day. pepesdad1 we had snow here last year for an hour. It was some of the biggest flakes I ever seen and I lived in Michigan for 14 years and worked in Massachusettes during the blizzards a few years ago. I'll dig up the pics later. What do I do when it's cold? I REJOICE! I love it! After a summer full of 100+ degree days, the cold is welcome here anytime

We had an awesome October. Quite warm. Even now, temperatures are going above freezing during the day. Next week it's supposed to drop to -19 C (-2 F).

Anything below 80°F is too cold. 90°F with 60-70% humidity is heavenly to me.

When the temp really drops, single digit or minus zero (F). I try not to leave the farm as my day is spent stuffing the woodstove and feeding the Kiva in the kitchen. Plenty pipe smoking those days!

I tell you what, if you guys can't straighten out your differences over the one hot rock without resorting to gunplay, I'm out of there in four of five months. IPA vs stout, Sutliff vs C&D, redheads vs brunettes, that's all fair game and understandable that gentlemen would need to go ten paces and turn, but to shoot at a fellow over a heated rock is just plain irresponsible.
