In the real world (not digital, online world) I came across two pipes in the course of the last two days.
One was an unsmoked estate Peterson Shannon 150 Straight Smooth Bulldog with a oxidised vulcanite stem. $50. I already own a Peterson Shannon 80s bent bulldog and its a terrific pipe. So I was sure this one wasn't going to let me down as just a great smoker.
The second one was a "new old stock" Peterson Christmas 2015 Edition 221 Rusticated Bent Billiard with an acrylic stem. $60.
I decided to purchase both pipes. A lot of people could easily spend the $110 on just one of the two pipes. I've smoked both of them and can testify they're both great smokers. I think the 150 will be my new road warrior pipe. The bent billiard is great for reading or just about anything really. I recommend them both if you're in the market for a "new" edition to your Peterson rotation.

Yeah the thought occurred to me to perhaps clean up the vulcanite and put a new coat on it. But then I thought of my pre-80s GBDs that have so much character, with their oxidised stems and imperfect charred rims. That bulldoggy just is. He's got some rough edges but he's still damned handsome and a good smoker.

I got this Peterson Shannon 80s Bent Bulldog from Smoking Pipes for $86.00 brand new. They probably have others like it for sale. Highly recommend it - its a steal for that price. That pipe is like in my top six favourite smokers right now.

Go with whatever works for you brother! The pipes that looked like they have been well smoked, look so for a reason! A lightly smoked pipe can sometimes make you wonder....

Nice ... congrats! I like the tapestry too ... Infrared Roses? The whole thing is supposed to be 3d I just don't have 3d glasses anywhere to check it out. But yes the whole thing does crazy stuff under a blacklight. Even crazier stuff with Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

Theyre both superb smokers.
But there's something about the Christmas 221. Its just such an effortless, easy smoke. With almost any blend. You can almost forget you are smoking. Its the best Peterson I think I've ever had.
