An irritant is an irritant.Pebble or stick, it's all the same.I will "pull" a door open and hold it for just about anyone. But I hesitate to push the door open and hold it for safety reasons. The other day I approached the door,a single entry/ exit door that only opens to the inside of the store. I could see a man approaching from the other side. So rather than hit him with the door,I stepped back. My wife laughing walked past and told me that my reflection scares her too.

I don't think I've ever given this much thought to the circumstances of opening a door before.
It I'm going through the door and someone else is going through the same door, I hold it open. It costs the same no matter who the person is.
"I am good to people who are good. I am also good to people who are not good. Because Virtue is goodness. I have faith in people who are faithful. I also have faith in people who are not faithful. Because Virtue is faithfulness."
"What is a good man? A teacher of a bad man. What is a bad man? A good man’s charge. If the teacher is not respected, And the student not cared for, Confusion will arise, however clever one is."

Bring back revolving doors!! Ain't that the truth....it is certainly more economical for the store in loss of conditioned air be it cool or warm...but under the ADA mandates you would still have to have the.... Option with a sliding door also...certainly doable.
