KO An early Drip Wax from Radice: A Sven Lar by Michael Kabik: A very early model Gotica by Capitello: One of which I doubt many were made, a JT Cooke: By Russ Cook: By Walt Cannoy: A pipe I hounded Chris Askwith to make for me: One more to come.

Lonecoyote, I had never seen a sitter done as a Drip Wax and in the old shipping days they would anchor up and often the captain or a crew member might wish to pen a letter or read a chart so they would drip some wax on the table and set a candle in the pool and let it solidify. Of course if the tide went out and the ship touched bottom the candle would not be straight it would pitch in the direction of how the ship settled. I told Chris this was what I was hoping to achieve and he did a masterful job even so far as highlighting the pipe lighter at the top where the flame would be, as with any Askwith it’s a fine smoking pipe. banjo

How Chris finished off the shank to make it a perfect sitter was how Paddy would say.....” BRILLIANT “👌👍👍👍👍. It’s truly a pot overflowing with wax, beautiful contrasting staining was achieved.

OK. The question was, love them or hate them...
I love some of them - some of them look amazing, but does no one else see what I see?
I don't want to offend so I'll not write it here. But what I've seen I can't unsee.

But what I've seen I can't unsee. Yeah. That's just ONE of the few things I hate about them. Let's just say some of these would PAIR well with certain bad briar "calabash" pipes I've seen new carvers make.

I can appreciate the creativity in the carving of these pipes , they just aren't my style so I don't have any.

Guess I’m slow, I don’t see it. You care to point it out, thanks. I'm waaayy too new around here to do that. My previous post in reference to poorly shaped calabash pipes is about as far as I'm going on this limb. Sorry my friend.
