Been gone all day and found out listening to the car radio that Stan Lee had passed. The subject of his life and career is a very complicated one, and I shall not delve into that now. I'll just say my personal experiences, including working for him, were all positive. Good bye Stan.

Stan Lee is, as I understand it, one of those fellows without whom a lot of amazing things would never have happened. We sure need more folks like that around.

JimInks any good stories about Stan ? Maybe first time you met him .. ? Once, Stan was teasing me about needing to go to art school. He quickly apologized because he said he was afraid I might take his comment seriously. I said "At least my name doesn't sound like a Chinese laundry." He cracked up laughing, so we were even.

And just a few days after talking about our favourite comic books.
I had the honor of speaking with him briefly at an expo in Pittsburgh. I kept it brief out of respect. He was exactly as he seems during one of his many cameos. He left me with the feeling (Wish that guy was my grandfather) haha My grandfather just talks about minorities ruining the country and how I wasted my life in school and should have been a welder. In that respect, men like Stan Lee are remembered because they show us there is more to life than mundane reality- That we aren't alone in our daydreams and that the worlds we wish for are just as real and important as the one we're born into.
Farewell Stan

Good man.
In a variety of situations, that sadly does not take place. Recently at my sister’s funeral, I saw a logo on a guy’s coat that said he was with the hospice that aided my sister, I thanked him for their service to my sister, even though he was administrative staff and wasn’t the person that attended her. The guy was hard to shake at a time that I needed to greet scores of other people... I am surprised that he didn’t ask for praise in writing.
I have had several face to faces with celebrities over the years, and always did a quick how do you do. John Madden was the coolest guy around, he initiated a 15 minute conversation.
No thread hijack... kudo’s.

He was a legend in the comic book world. I know my brothers were major fans of his work.
If I was ever more into the superhero thing as a kid I may have appreciated him more. I was a batman kid which was DC comics of course.
My main comic thing was always Bill Gaines and EC. I loved their horror, suspense, and science fiction comics growing up as a kid. I still have a lot of the paperback annuals that Russ Cochran released back in the 90s and 2000s I think bought them.

My sister told me about his cameo appearances. I never knew that.
