PAD's been hitting me hard lately. I just got this Hungarian in the mail today. A BBB estate, a Bruno Nuttens Bing and a Randy Wiley hopefully arriving soon. My name is Irminsul and I'm a pipeaholic. Help.

That Sav is pretty classy, and the rest have great pedigrees!

Very nice! I’d like to see that BBB too... The Nuttens just arrived, although I bought it a couple of days after the BBB (from that excellent UK estate shop), but the latter got flagged by customs and has endured the inevitable delay. It should be here soon.

Very nice pipe! A true classic. I've noticed that the brass dot on the stem is larger than it used to be. Any comments on this?

I was looking at Punto Oro pipes at Smokingpipes.com and it appears that if the pipe has a vulcanite stem the dot is the same small dot that they have used since the beginning. However, if the pipe is furnished with an acrylic stem they are now using a larger brass dot. At least that is how it looks to me after looking at quite a few of their new pipes. I'm not saying there is anything bad about this, it's just new to me. Still all are beautiful pipes!

I believe both are fitted with acrylic stems, so I don't have a basis for comparison. I can never properly deoxidize my well used pipes with vulcanite stems, so I prefer acrylic whenever I have a choice.
