I know this has probably been asked before and beat to a dead horse. I've never read any books on pipesmoking and if I did perhaps I would know the answer to this question.
Who was the first pipe maker to number their pipe models? I want to say it was dunhill but I am not sure since so many companies do this.
I want to say it was also dunhill who numbered their blends as their tobacannist would handpick tobaccos to blend for their customers and each customer had a number at their London shop. I guess everyone knows this. But was anyone doing this with numbers prior to dunhill?
Thanks enjoy your pipes and blends today historians and everyone else
