I'm looking at an unsmoked Carey Magic Inch pipe on eBay. I don't think I want to use it as a system pipe. Can you recommend someone that could create a replacement stem for it? Generally speaking how much does a custom made stem cost?

Vermont Freehand use to have a selection of stems, didn’t see any today. Take a look on eBay, you’ll find a decent selection....good luck.

A stem cut from a blank normally costs $20-30. Hand cut stems are much more expensive.
A magic inch conversion will probably cost a little more than a simple stem replacement, since there’s that reverse tenon to deal with.
