I was hoping for a picture of the jacket. Good, tight canvas can be surprisingly warm.
Rest, man. A man’s gotta rest some or he’s no good to anybody.

Travis, what you have accomplished is truly remarkable, and your desire to serve your fellow man is commendable.
If you were to do no more work past this date, you are in rarified air compared to many, of which I admit myself into that group.
There is nothing wrong in throwing out a drag chute in the race of life, it is not a bad thing.
A lot of great people like Charles Spurgeon spent every last ounce of energy, and paid the price, so pace yourself… Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Having said that, well done… one would be hard pressed to find a finer neighbor. Thanks for checking in.

I appreciate the advice and wise words. I often do take at least half of Sunday off, sometimes all. I go to my lady friends house and do whatever few projects over there. She has this little half acre lot in an old subdivision. Clean the gutters, mow the grass, fix a mailbox , paint a room, replace some flooring. Just little house stuff. I really like it, Its like I am on Leave it to Beaver. Little cute house , waving at neighbors that drive bye. She cooks tons of food, and usually has a movie or show she wants to watch. I generally fall asleep within 30 mins of sitting still , but she does not mind. Some of the best sleep I get during the whole week are naps on her couch. And as requested pictures of the jacket!

Nervous energy today. Uncle came down from Nashville to spray the whole inside with primer, will then paint the ceilings tomorrow. Cold snap kept me busy last night with oil and also kerosene heaters trying to keep it warm enough to paint. Have to do the day job also while running out to see progress and be a go-for. Uncle paints for a living , donating his time for a 12 pack of Mt. Dew and a whole smoked chicken. Just had to go pick him up and take him back later. Fair deal for a good man.

Primer weekend went off without much issue. The paint being on the ceiling and trim pointed out all the places that needed Caulk . One of those situations where all I can see are the mistakes. Spent a few days and a case of caulk to get it close to where I would want it. Work made me take a week off , so I used the time to paint. Did the trim and doors in 2 days, first coat on the walls in 2 days, then a final coat in 1 day. Can still see where the drywall seams are, which would require more sanding, mudding, then painting again. Simply no time for that now. That can be a project for another time. Put up 3 fake beams in the living room kitchen area, real in that they are wood, fake in that they are hollow in the middle and just boards stained/ nailed together. Was also able that week to stain the porch ceiling, and put in blow in insulation in the house. Last winter I noticed my girlfriends house, along with her neighbors had no insulation in the built on garages. They were carports that some point were made into 1 car garage. The rest of the house had a layer of snow but the garages were already melted. Heat escaping is an easy thing to see with some snow. Since I had the machine I bought a few more bales of the insulation and did both of their houses as well . Should help with the energy bill a tad this winter. Also took the chance to go up down my road with my chainsaw, knocking on doors asking anyone if they had any trees that needed removed. Several on the road this year that could fall on houses took a turn for the worse. A few houses took me up on my offer, a few looked at me like a crazy person. Cabinets came in , put those together, they are ready for paint then install. Doors hung back up, closet doors installed. Next is to buy all the things a house has, need 13 fans/light fixtures. install cabinets, put down all the tile, dig the water lines, and start on the flooring. I am sure 100 things I have forgot that needs done also The last photo you can see my lists. I make lists all day every day. I dont know how people function without a list to mark things off of. Around the property nothing much has changed. This weekend is my big butcher weekend for the year. 25 chickens, 3 extra roosters, 3 rabbits, and 1 sneaky male duck that missed last butcher day. Will give me the majority of my meat for the year (minus hunting and a few chickens here and there) so it is a serious weekend. Should be in the 40s and a light rain which actually is PERFECT butcher day weather. Body wise I am beat down, shoulder 100% needs surgery after all of this is done. I am just pushing it to work a few more months then can probably rest a bit. Spirit wise I am back to seeing the progress, I would be painting in a corner and go through in my mind this 4ft section of wall . Studs, insulation, electric, run. Then Drywall, tape, mud, sand, mud, Then Trim , more trim, and now paint. The house is built with my blood , sweat, and tears. The end is in sight and if I knew more sports references I am sure some fit here. I am blessed beyond anything I deserve and then some. I got to help some people and that is really the only thing that matters. I hope all of you are having a great time as well.

More rainy weather here. But thankfully most projects on the house have been indoors. Aside from the digging of water lines to the house. Got an old trencher up and running , which the couple of hours spent on that saved countless actually digging. Dug them out and put in the new Pex line, first time not working with PVC for me, but nothing but compliments on the Pex. Aside from the cost of the tools needed to connect. Bathrooms are done aside from fixtures, most other rooms have things done. some of the switches are wired wrong. It would be an easy fix but waiting on the people hired to do it. I say that but if it goes much longer Ill just do it myself. They are easy fixes. Figured out most of my holes for plugs and such were cut to big , by me, when I put up the drywall . Little spackle fixed all of that in very small amount of time. Everything is coming together, which is good cause the money is about out. I made a rule years ago never to worry about money. Just keep going forward , try not to spend anything unless its needed and it will be there when I need it. This has served me personally very well. Nothing has changed on the animals or property . Last I wrote it was butcher weekend which went off just fine. I dont remember all the numbers but for chicken alone I put 150 lbs of meat in the freezer, little less than some years but it will always vary depending on weather, how many males where in the batch etc. Next up is painting the cabinets, they are currently white, which I do not like , The lady in my life has picked out Peacock blue for the color , so since I dont care we are going with that. Pictures at the end, very quick post but just want to say I hope you are all blessed, and best wishes to all of you this holiday season. I am blessed beyond anything i will ever deserve still and always.

Thanks everyone! And as far as talent, All I see are mistakes. Pictures are being a little kind to the guy playing craftsman!
Building the 3 fake beams was some of the most fun I have had. Now of course I have stain colored hand prints around them on the white I need to touch up .

Merry Christmas to everyone! First and foremost I wish every one of you Joy and Happiness. I wish I could share mine with you friends because I have more that I can ever use or deserve. 4 days off work counting the weekend, decide its time to get the floors done. The timing was perfect as a cold snap has hit our area and the trailer even with the best effort I can see my breath, the house has heat and its exactly where I should be. So be lazy in the cold or productive in the heat, life usually gives an obvious choice. I started on it Thursday night, putting down most of the padding and running as far as I could with the boards without having to do cuts, the porch is still kinda dark and it was 4 degrees outside , so I waited till sunup to start the cutting. The dog didnt like the floor and kept laying on the padding, exactly in the way . Huffing at me every time I made him move. I kept threating to throw him out of the house, but he knew I wouldnt. The weather does increase animal chores by an hour or so a day, but carrying extra water trips helps straighten out the knees who welcome the relief. I got a new knit hat like I do every year from my Girlfriend and it was also a great chance to break it in. Friday was all floors, and cuts and burning the boxes from the boards. Lots of cuts hitting corners and closets slowing me down. Including I forgot to cut the bottom of the door frames, but I did get to use an angled hacksaw a hand me down from my grandfather. The battery tools would have been faster, but hand tool feel more personal when time allows. Saturday was laying floors, so many cuts in the closet and hallway. Then pad down in the bedrooms. Took a while to get the design flowing without transitions. I dont mind transition pieces, but they cost more than they should and just wanted to see if I could do it without. So far so good. Had to call it an early evening due to a Christmas eve family thing. I had planned on working on it again when I got home. I liked the idea of watching the sunrise on Christmas. Have to admit I got full , and warm on the drive back and went straight to bed. Back up early this morning got the feeding and watering done and back in the house. basically wearing pajamas, Christmas music on the radio, sausage balls to snack on, and plenty of coffee. Just chugging along humming to myself putting down floors, makes me think of all the Christmas mornings as a kid past putting together legos I got. Im grown now and still enjoy the same things. What a blessing that the flooring brought me down memory lane. Took a coffee break and thought I would throw up some pictures real quick. I am blessed beyond anything a person deserves. My knees are pretty angry from crawling on them for 4 days so far, but its the good hurt from a good days work or 4.

Took a week off work , its slow now and they are always cranky I never take off. Most of the week has been cutting up trees down at a neighbors that a storm took out. Rest of it working on the kitchen of the new house photos to follow. Got a few stray cats fighting with mine, hopefully it works out. I dont want to force my hand with the stranger cats, but I will not have my own cats hurt. I have a deal with my animals , pets or future food, that while here they are under my protection and I will protect. Speaking of had a duck , one that always got out the fence somehow , get taken off. Signs indicate a fox, could be a small dog but I doubt it. Spent last two nights in cover waiting to see if came back , but despite my best commando tactics I imagine them laughable to a fox. Few pictures of progress. Nothing is screwed down yet so will get a bit tighter after drain and such are actually installed. To exhausted for much more. I pray for everyone that lists hardships and I hope the best for all of you. I am still blessed by God beyond anything I possible deserve. Every day is a gift and then some. I hope all of you can feel the same.
