I apologize in advance if you have seen my intro in other forums but in the event you haven't:
We are from Eastern Ontario and been into tobacco pipes almost a year now. I started with aromatics but I am definitely finding English blends much more to my liking lately and I use them almost exclusively now while my spouse is sticking with her aromatics. The tobacco taxation situation had us try our hand at growing burley and virginia here on our property for the first time; hopefully next year I have better luck after learning from this years tobacco crop mistakes. We have a small collection of under a dozen pipes but most of them are hand made in either Denmark, England, Turkey or the US. The collection includes a Meerschaum gourd Calabash, Dunhill, Vesterholmn, Ser Jacopo, BBB, Peterson and a Brandon Brooks custom built Rhodesian.

Welcome to the forum, I live in the desert Southwest and this time of year we are flooded with Canadian snowbirds. If you know of any that head south, have them pick you up some tobacco.

Warm welcome from the San Francisco Bay! Wow, I can testify to the fact that San Francisco Bay is darn frigging cold!!! I did the Escape from Alcatraz race there in March 2013 I think it was. The one where they ran it in what I understand is California's winter due to a sailing race being held when it usually runs in summer. My race was the one where a triathlete drown almost immediately on hitting the water after jumping from the ferry. I was scared to death the entire swim thinking I wasn't too far from that end myself a couple of times trying to swim to shore from Alcatraz. It really is an amazing race and I am very glad I did it. Once is enough though!

Welcome to the forum, I live in the desert Southwest and this time of year we are flooded with Canadian snowbirds. If you know of any that head south, have them pick you up some tobacco. I have family in the US and it has crossed my mind to ask them but they are definitely terrible liars and any US Border Security Guard asking questions of my family would turn them red with embarrassment real fast. I don't expect my folks would run into trouble with the Americans but Canada Customs is another matter given how much the government can collect in sin taxes. I'd be afraid to lose my leaf and they risk their Nexus card status which I'd never ask them to do. I rely heavily on a few online US tobacco retailers who truly look after Canadians with their shipments north. You can pull every fingernail I have and I'll never say which US retailer or how they do it. One of my pet peeves is how open people are on these online pipe forums about how shipping to Canada is done. PM or just message the question I always suggest; make the Government Revenuers work for their bust!!!!!

PM or just message the question I always suggest; make the Government Revenuers work for their bust!!!!! I hear you... When the Tinderbox was here, the snowbirds pretty much cleaned the stores out, and I am guessing that they would just stash them in the RV’s and head north. On more than one occasion, I had to recommend people change their post on that issue.
