Both good articles Charlie. Sounded like an honest, straight-forward, no bs kind of person we'd all like to smoke a pipe with, and listen to different point of view stories. Thanks for sharing these articles...

Too many pipe smokers leaving us. Sadly, you are correct. All too often, I run across these stories as obituarys...when that isn't the case, I have been able to herd a few to Brian Levine for interviews, but it would have been interesting to hear these voices about how the pipe as played a part in their journey.

Two great articles Charlie. The author of the Longmire books, Craig Johnson, lives in Ucross. They say the population there is 25. One of the books’ plot revolves loosely around an old junkyard, at an intersection, and being reclaimed.

Helping to end a theater in a world war, saving millions of lives, both friend and foe, is a hell of a legacy. Then, at the end, a stetson, a field jacket, and a pipe... pretty good way to finish out one's days. May we all do so well. Adios, sir.

Sounds like he was quite a fellow & he lived a full, exciting life. It would have been wonderful to share a dram & bowl with him and listen to his stories.

What a life he led. So many accomplishments and actually getting to see "the bomb"! Wow! Of course the first thing I wonder..what tobacco or tobaccos did he smoke.
