Everyone that I know that has a Morta loves them... I smoked a Becker Morta, it was lightweight, smoked dry, and was a great experience. I really didn’t know that Rattray’s worked with Morta, and I know nothing about that line of pipes, but if the reviews are good on their briar’s I wouldn’t hesitate.

Hello and welcome, from the former Republic of Texas. +1 on the morta for all the above reasons and the oak usually makes for some awesome sandblasts.

Warm welcome lenticula! I have no experience with Morta/Bog Oak pipes, but I'll bet they would be great smokers if dried and crafted carefully.

If you find a stockist of the Rattray's bog oak pipes, please tell Lady Margaret! I live in the UK, well Wales actually ! I buy a lot of my tobacco and pipes etc from GQtobacco.com. An excellent company who have special offers each month. This month it's Rattrays Bog Oak Pipes. I normally smoke Peterson or Savinelli so was intrigued when I saw this months offers on the bog oak Pipes. They can supply to the US though not tobacco. Thanks for replies to my post.

I've been eyeballing quite a few Rattray's pipes lately but haven't bought one yet. The Old Gowrie and Scottish Thistle lines especially. In what part of Wales are you, lenticula?

Slap bang in the middle ! Llandrindod Wells, an old Victorian Spa town just north of the Brecon Beacons. Quite a change from 30 years in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas !

I have a couple of morta pipes. Don Warren makes a great artisan morta pipe for not that much more than a Rattrays. Morta is great. Smokes like briar, and won't burn, split, or absorb moisture.

I always have lived in the UK, but having got my UK pilot's licence in 1980 came over to Dallas to increase my experience and made many friends over there. Eventually built a property near Port Isabel and travelled all over Texas and most of the US. Particularly love San Antonio and really miss it especially Ruth's Chris and Moretons !!
