I've gotta say there's something great about smoking my pipe in fresh air. That's why I don't like smoking inside as much as I do outside.
Anyone else feel the same?

I do enjoy it and with my heater as its making the colder weather easier but I hope to one day have an indoor option. The hope is one day my own office/study with an air cleaner. Come summer its just too hot and humid to enjoy.

I suppose I don't have the heat issue over here.

As I understand it, your climate is more to my liking. Your tobacco restrictions on the other hand are not. lol

Since the only "indoor" that I am gonna have is a coffin...I better just enjoy the outdoors.

I enjoy the outdoors anyway. If I smoked my pipe inside I dont think I'd ever be seen without one in hand.
This cooler weather has slowed things down, but it wont stop me. I've been waiting on this weather for a long time.

I actually prefer indoors, unless it's a calm summer's eve on my deck. Don't like smoking in the wind.

ideal conditions are outdoors in front of a patio firepit, watching the stars. another acceptable situation is outside in cool weather reading a book. neither happen all that often, so I go to the smoking lounge on Tuesdays. smoking inside isn't al that ideal.

I like smoking in my overstuffed chair, contoured to my contours, my bookshelves at hand, in my Batman T shirt and ratty old bathrobe, listening to great music. If i want fresh air i open the window.

I only smoke outdoors and have no place for a heater to help, I can slide aside the chimney to be out of the wind but just a couple of days ago it was 7F with 30 mph winds but I pretty much manned up and stayed out for 25 minutes. bambooshank

This is going to sound weird, but I don’t like my “second hand smoke”. It irritates my sinuses. An occasional retro breathe (or whatever) is okay, but indoors I’m constantly rebreathing my smoke. I like a nice fresh breeze outdoors.

I only smoke outside. I simply do not want my house to smell like smoke (because I am a bit of an obsessive-compulsive nut case).

I much prefer smoking outdoors, on the back deck. Completely enclosed except for the front portion overlooking a wooded area with a small stream......peace and tranquility 👍👍 When at my daughter’s the back deck has no protection to inclement weather. But looking at acres of trees is a big plus!!!

Aside from Az Pipe Club meetings, I smoke outside. We’re blessed with perfect weather this time of year, not so great during summer though.

If i want fresh air i open the window. And here in Southern AZ today I have my windows wide open but I'm to fidgety to enjoy anything but a cigar outside. I enjoy my pipes in a comfortable comfortable chair with my feet up and my pipes stuff, computer and TV remote at hand.

Outdoors, indoors it doesn't matter I'm lucky to be able to smoke inside when it's cold but I will also smoke outside when it's cold I'll smoke in the shop next to a mop while growing a crop it doesn't matter to me

I've always preferred smoking outside. The only time I've enjoyed doing it inside was in a local lounge that has a 30+ft tall ceiling.

I usually smoke outdoors. As a cigar smoker I actually took up pipes so I could smoke indoors during the worst winter weather. For some strange reason, the rest of the family doesn’t appreciate the aroma of a fine cigar as much as I do. (While I enjoy both cigars & pipes, if I were restricted to choosing just one - now I’d choose the pipe.)

I enjoy my pipes in a comfortable comfortable chair with my feet up and my pipes stuff, computer and TV remote at hand. Now that does sound like bliss.... And I'd compromise with that as an alternative to smoking in the cold wet weather we have here. But I think the smoking itself is better outside. It's a bit like what flybypipe wrote - I don't like my own second-hand smoke. It kinda makes the air stale.

I have a nice back porch I like to smoke in the nice months, especially fall. Seems like we went from summer to cold with very little fall weather time. I have a good wife, I can smoke in the house. Sitting next to a fire, jazz, Christmas tree and a book is sublime.
My fishing trip to Cape Lookout was another surreal smoking sensation. It was a clear night and milky way was as bright as be from horizon to horizon. About 3 am, trying to fish high tide, two points of light started emerge on the horizon. It got bigger and bigger and looked like devil horns. I thought maybe the Great Cthulhu was about to wake from his dead slumber. Turned out it was a crescent moon. I was smoking P.S. Luxury Twist in Savinelli 616. Man I love doing that camping trip each year to catch Red Drum

I enjoy smoking outside on cooler days and evenings, especially with no mosquitos flitting about my ankles. Except for it being absolutely windless, outdoor multidirectional breezes deprive the added nasal pleasure of windstreaming billowy puffs up into the nostrils, though snorking still affords pleasure. Indoors by the big picture window with the backyard view also satisfies.

I dunno. I like the smell of pipe smoke. Depending on the blend. And the smell of a great cigar BTW.
The other day I was smoking some CULT Abacus and when dumping some ash the still burning ember fell out of the pipe into the ashtray. And it kept burning, This beautiful, wonderful smelling stream heading up to the ceiling. It is the perfect potpourri.
What I like about smoking outdoors is the sociability aspect. Neighbors, joggers, dog walkers etc., wave and stop by for a little chit chat.
Its best to smoke a churchwarden in this respect. For some reason I look less threatening with a churchwarden.
My neighbor across the street (now since passed) was a musician and when i was on the porch with my pipe she would come over and we would play some music. Often others would stop just to stand around and listen.

Now that's a good point you raise...one of the main reasons for starting pipe smoking was the smell of the smoke, and that's something I don't get much of when I smoke outside.

When the weather is right, outside is by far superior. But now that it is the cold weather months and my outdoor smoking spot is my little 5th floor balcony off the waters of NYC, too cold, too windy and it's almost impossible to enjoy a pipe out there. I have been making treks to the local cigar bars for an evening bowl or two when I can. It is a luxury to smoke indoors comfortably when the weather outside is so unpleasant.

Wife puts up with enough without the pitiful home we have smelling like an ashtray. I have to agree with her...no smoking in the house (such as it is).
