I like smoking everywhere.
I was just talking to the pastor at the Orthodox Presbyterian Church that I attend, explaining the benefit of having the office of Churchwarden in the local church... there is a great window at the back, obviously there by providence.

I actually prefer indoors, unless it's a calm summer's eve on my deck. Don't like smoking in the wind. I agree with Steve. I smoke my pipes in my shop, which has a space heater for winter, but no AC for summer, unfortunately. When I smoke outside, it's usually a cigar rather than a pipe. |

What I like about smoking outdoors is the sociability aspect. Neighbors, joggers, dog walkers etc., wave and stop by for a little chit chat. Its best to smoke a churchwarden in this respect. For some reason I look less threatening with a churchwarden. My neighbor across the street (now since passed) was a musician and when i was on the porch with my pipe she would come over and we would play some music. Often others would stop just to stand around and listen. Sounds very nice, Jeff. |

I'm not a fan of being cold being that a lot of my work is outdoors so when I'm home I prefer to smoke indoors. The Mrs. and I don't smoke upstairs but will smoke in the basement or out in the hot tub shed. I am lucky that the Mrs. loves the smell of pipe smoke.

It has two walls of windows and I insulated and finished the inside and installed a mini split heat pump so it's heated in the winter and if desired air conditioned in the summer. It's extra function is for overflow during the holidays and is the smoking room during the winter. |

I have looked at plans for large sheds and tiny houses and the like, to build an outbuilding. My first thought was as a kind of office, to provide better separation between work and home life, then I thought as a kind of practice room, outfitted with everything i need and nothing to distract me but motivational posters. Maybe a place for devotional reading - a kind of a home chapel. Smoking area, maybe. Place to finish my second great novel. (I gave up on the first one.) And on and on. Finally I figured out that all I really wanted was a toy house to play in. Well, heck I can do that with a refrigerator box and a few magic markers. Kind of took all the fun out of it.  |
